Dean was born and raised in the valley amid the lush greenery of the Allegheny Mountains of North
Western Pennsylvania. A far cry from the towers and pavement of New York City. He was born to a small town family of singers
and dancers who, for fun, would have family gatherings and sing and dance around the piano. This was the environment that
planted the seeds for his love of the performing arts.
Dean started performing as early as grade school and kept going all the way through high school,
singing in church and doing school plays. His first role was as the narrator in the classic "Ducky Lucky" (Chicken Little)
story. Even though he was in first grade, he can still recall how good it felt to be on stage entertaining people and making
them laugh and feel happy.
After high school Dean took a long break from performing to figure out what he wanted to do with his
life, although the love of performing never left him. It wasn't until he had the chance to audition for and get cast in the
musical Evita that he was truly "bitten by the bug" again. During the stretch of the following 10n years, Dean did about 30
shows, mostly musicals. Some of which include Damn Yankees, Company, Fiddler on the Roof, and the title role in Joseph and
the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. He also did a few radio and television jingles for the Erie Pa. market.
In 1994, Dean moved to NYC to take his love of the performing arts to the next level. Over the course
of the next 7 years he worked as lead singer/front man to various bands in the city form jazz to rock. His last band
recorded and released a rock album which he co-wrote and co-produced.
In 2002, Dean took an acting class with a friend "just for the fun of it". It was there he realized
he wanted to focus his professional acting efforts in the area of film and television. Since then he has appeared in quite
a few indie features, two of which are being submitted to the Cannes and Sundance film festivals. Dean was also noticed and
cast in the forthcoming indie feature "Tie A Yellow Ribbon" by casting director STEPHANIE HOLBROOK. Last fall Dean finished
a performance in a film, "Hysteria" written with him in mind as one of the lead roles. This is his 2nd feature film with director/producer
Bobby Barredo of Kubo Entertainment.
He's been quite busy (happily) these days. Last month DEAN performed a lead role in a comedy short
film, "Who's Time is it Anyway" and appeared in a commercial for Nokia. Currently his new music video is doing GREAT on the
YouTube website, having received OVER 4,600 views in a little over a month. From here it's on to performing in a couple
comedy short films for film maker GABRIEL KLAVUN, which will be on there way to all the film festivals.
WHEW ............. and DEAN is grateful.
