Why study Business law? Business law affects us on a daily basis. Ignorance of the law does not exonerate
anyone from a crime. Read or pay attention to cases in the media and real-life situations from your own experience.
Chapter 1: Ethics and the Law
Introduction of the ethical decision-making and how it relates to the law: Why are laws needed in any society? What are
the five major sources of law in the United States?
Vocabulary
morality, ethics, honesty, justice, compassion, integrity, law, statutes, legislature.
The Greatest Good principle intones the decision that favors the greatest number of people is the ethical choice.
The heart of Golden Rule is compassion. The premise: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you,"
is the underlying dogma of the Golden Rule principle.
Chapter 2: The Court System
Differences between civil and criminal trials. What are the alternatives to litigation? The Miranda rights. Jurisdictions
and structures of federal and state courts. The trail procedure.

- Write a term paper on CONTRACTS
- Your paper should be 3 pages in length excluding the cover page and the reference page.
- Use 12- point times new roman
- Double space your paper
- Your paper should have an introduction, wherein you will define the word "contract" and write an explanation on what the
wotd means to you or the importance of contracts in our everyday life.
- Talk about the elements and characteristics of contracts.
- Explain what is meant by a breach of contract.
- Look into actual court cases involving minors and contracts. Give at least three examples.
- Conclude using your own words on how easy or difficult the assignment was and what you think of contract law in general.
- Do not forget to list your references.
- This term paper is due on the 4th or 5th of January, 2007. Late papers will not be accepted. Remember that second quarter
ends on January 11th, 2007. I will need to turn-in grades on time. Thank you for your understanding. Have a safe and
