OBESITY
DESCRIPTION
A condition of increased body weight (consisting of both lean and fat tissue) that leads to increased morbidity and mortality.
Also defined as weight 20% greater then an individual's desirable weight as defined by BMI > 28 kg/m2
- Android obesity (male pattern or abdominal obesity) is higher risk and gynecoid obesity (female pattern or obesity over
hips and thighs) is lower risk for long-term health problems.
BMI is calculated by body weight in KG divided by the square of body height in meters

- Ages 35 - 44: 1600/100,000 males; 1400/100,000 females
