Baruch Wrestlers Attend Cornell
University For A Summer Clinic
ITHACA, N.Y., July, 2007-Thirty-five wrestlers
from New York City's Beat the Streets Wrestling program recently spent a week at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY
learning from some of the world's best wrestlers at Rob Koll's Big Red Wrestling Camp. The group got a taste of what
it is like to be an NCAA Division One wrestler at an Ivy League School.
Three
times a day the wrestlers had instructional sessions, breaking for lunch and dinner and some recreational time. The
group got to stay in the dorms at Cornell and dine on campus for all three meals. The Beat the Streets
wrestlers got to use the indoor pool to cool off during recreational time and even took a trip to a nearby state park to swim
in a lake which had a nice waterfall, you dont get to see that too often in the city.
The
staff at Cornell University was an all-star lineup including many NCAA Champions, Olympic Wrestlers, and members of the World
team. This is the type of instruction that will build wrestling champions within the city.
The purpose of the trip was to expose these young men and women to the opportunities that exist with wrestling at the college
level, improve their
wrestling skills, and get them out of the hot city for a week.
