The DECT provides emergency and public service communications services to the entire Damascus, Maryland area.
In
the summer of 2004, at a meeting of the Damascus Emergency Preparedness Team (DEPT), Fire Chief Darron Long of the Damascus
Volunteer Fire Department, asked me to install Ham radios in the Fire Station in order to establish a backup radio communications
system for the Fire Department.
In May of 2006, we finally installed two Kenwood 2 meter and 70 centimeter radios. These radios can communicate
through out the Baltimore/Washington/Frederick, Maryland area.
Our Mission
To support the Damascus Volunteer Fire Department and provide emergency communications in times of large scale emergencies
throughout the Damascus Fire District #13.
