Mission Statement:

Our goal is to give homeschoolers an opportunity to experience music through band classes, private lessons, and concert performances in an environment focusing on homeschooled childen only. Music styles include classical, jazz, Christian, and standard band literature.

Music Classes Provided:

Since starting in 2006, Powhatan Homeschool Music has been providing band classes for beginners and intermediate levels as well as recorder classes and private lessons. You do not need previous music experience to join a beginner class or take lessons. We present Christmas and Spring concerts and will soon be performing some concerts out in the community.

Music Director, James Robinson:

Receiving a Bachelor of Music Performance degree and a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA, I have served in the music ministry at my Church for 22 years.

Orchestra director, Preschool Choir Director, Children's Choir Co-Director, and participation in handbells and our praise band have been my ministries that have helped me to fulfill God's calling in my life. I have also taught instrumental music at private schools in the Richmond area.

Being a homeschooling parent to my own 2 children, I have a passion for teaching homeschooled children and seeing them develop a love for music.
