FLY THE FLAG

Please join us in this FLY THE FLAG campaign and PLEASE forward this information immediately to everyone you know asking them to also forward it. We have a little less than one week and counting to get the word out all across this great land and into every community in the United States of America. THE PROGRAM:

On Monday, September 11th, 2007, an American flag should be displayed outside every home, apartment, office, and store in the United States. Every individual should make it their duty to display an American flag on this sixth anniversary of our country's worst tragedy. We do this honor of those who lost their lives on 9/11, their families, friends and loved ones who continue to endure the pain, and those who today are fighting at home and abroad to preserve our cherished freedoms.

In the days, weeks and months following 9/11, our country was bathed in American flags as citizens mourned the incredible losses and stood shoulder-to-shoulder against terrorism. Sadly, those flags have all but disappeared. Our patriotism pulled us through some tough times and it shouldn't take another attack to galvanize us in solidarity. Our American flag is the fabric of our country and together we can prevail over terrorism of all kindsAction Plan:

So, here's what we need you to do .

(1) Forward this information to everyone you know Take a moment to think back to how you felt on 9/11 and let those sentiments guide you.

(2) Fly an American flag of any size on 9/11. Honestly, Americans should fly the flag year-round, but if you don't, then at least make it a priority on this day.

Thank you for your participation. God Bless You and God Bless America!

Officer David Lim Port Authority Police & K-9 Partner Sirius

sirius_david.jpg

 WORLD TRADE CENTER
  GROUND ZERO &
   K-9 SIRIUS

UNBELIEVABLE, true story by a Police Officer Dave Lim of the New York Port Authority Police and his partner K9 Sirius who were there, before during and after the ATTACK on AMERICA at the WORLD TRADE CENTER that fateful day Sept.11, 2001.

Officer Dave Lim, SURVIVED that day, however his partner K-9 SIRIUS, did not survive. The K-9 Died In The Line Of Duty, a TRUE HERO.

The events of September 11, 2001 involved many officers and others but it also involved a K-9 and his partner. It was learned that a Yellow Lab name Sirius was under that pile of rubble that was the World Trade Center.

Officer Dave Lim of the New York Port Authority and his        K9 Sirius were assigned to the World Trade Center as an explosive detection canine team.

They started their day as usual and had no reason to believe that it would be anything different. But this day would change forever our lives and the lives of many families.

One cannot imagine the terror and panic that filled those that worked in the World Trade Center that Tuesday.

Below is a brief account of Officer David Lim.

"ONE GOT BY US"

Officer Lim was in the K9 office in the basement of the World Trade Center and heard the explosion on an upper floor. Thinking it was a bomb that had exploded David put his K9 Sirius in the dog crate and told him to stay, he was going to investigate.

David told K9 Sirius "one (bomb) must have gotten by us." Officer Lim had no idea of what had actually occurred or how the world was rapidly changing for all of us.

The officer started up the stairway directing people out and reached about the 44th. floor when he heard the second explosion. The officer still did not have any idea what was happening and felt that missiles may have hit the building.

The building evacuation was under way and he was assisting several people down the staircase. Officer Lim stated they could now hear the building collapsing as he was helping a female down the staircase, the whole building came down around them.

The officer and others believe they were at about the 5th level in the stairwell that was partly standing after the collapse. The smell of jet fuel was heavy and they elected to go up to the now top of the World Trade Center, the sixth floor.

They were eventually tossed ropes to get down and were making there way across the debris when small arms fire was heard. David stated he first thought that a battle was under way and thought to himself he was he going to get shot after living through the building collapse?

It was later found the small arms fire was ammunition that was stored that was now being detonated by fire.

David made several attempts to find a way to get to the basement were K9 Sirius was crated but was rebuffed by fireman and officers now trying to secure the scene and set up rescue operations. His Canine Sirius #17 is still listed as missing.

Officer Lim told me that his department has had several offers to replace his canine. He asked me to pass on to you all his sincerest appreciation for all of your thoughts and prayers.

K9 SIRIUS FOUND

A long four months but workers at ground zero found the body of the lovable yellow Labrador named Sirius today.

K9 Sirius of the New York Port Authority was working that September 11 day along with others at the World Trade Center now Ground Zero.

Today Sirius will have to stay no longer in the office in the basement. Officer David Lim says, "I've been waiting to find him," Lim said Thursday. "I fulfilled my promise to him because I came back and I took him home.

K9 Sirius is believed to be the only canine to die in the attack on the World Trade Center.

K9 Sirius remains were found beneath the debris of Tower Two, in the Port Authority's basement kennel. Officer Lim left Sirius there and went to help with the rescue effort, but did not make it back – Officer Lim became trapped himself on Tower One and was fighting for his life as the building collapsed around him.

Workers who were searching the site immediately called Lim to the scene Tuesday when they found Sirius.                                They carried out the remains with:

Full Honors, complete with a Prayer and a Salute.

"There was a flag over his bag and I carried him out with another officer, John Martin," Lim said.

"Everyone saluted. All the machinery was stopped -- the same thing that is done for human police officers and firefighters.

I thought it was very nice."

Officer Lim, who was heralded for his rescue efforts that day, had placed Sirius in the kennel moments after the first plane hit Tower One. Then he rushed to help people down the staircase.

A 20-year veteran of the towers, Officer Lim had climbed to the 44th floor of Tower One when Tower Two was hit. When he heard the call to evacuate, he made his way to the fifth floor, where he stopped to help assist a woman.

Officer Lim, "We got as far as the fourth floor and the building collapses on us," he said. "It was like an avalanche.

"We were just waiting there to die."

Officer Lim escaped to the top of the rubble now believed to be about the six floor. The officer had suffered a mild concussion, but no serious injuries.

Sirius, who was 4 years old, searched commercial vehicles coming into the trade center. He had been a partner with Officer David Lim since March 2000 and worked details for visits by such VIP's as President Bill Clinton, Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura, and Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat.

"He was my partner," Lim said. "We got really attached to him. "I still step over the spot where he used to sleep in my room because I forget he's not there."

Officer Lim was training his new dog, a black Lab named Sprig, when he got the call from workers at Ground Zero on Tuesday.

He found consolation in the fact that his partner died instantly. It appeared that the kennel collapsed.

Sirius' remains were cremated at the Hartsdale Pet Cemetery in Westchester County, N.Y. Lim collected the ashes and will keep them in an urn at home until April, when he plans to hold a memorial service.

Called to Give My All

I am a Police dog in a canine crew

I’ve been trained to see it through

When danger is near, my ears perk up

They taught me as a pup

I’m often there to protect your rights

My presence sometimes hinders fights

I never attack with thought to kill

When subduing one, my job I fill

I never worry a single thought

As to how I’ll fare at a certain spot

The love I have for my handler’s care

Is all I need each day to fare.

Interesting E-mail from my buddy, Ira Roth, former New York officer, BPD Officer Western District 1975-1978. He returned to the NYPD and is now finishing up his career in Cape Coral, Fla. Police Department.
I had mentioned 9-11 and this was his response.

Hello my friend,

Hope you are well. My partner Jose who is now working here for about a year now was there. We only spoke about it one time. He described it to me and it was TERRIBLE never spoken about it since.

About 3 weeks ago, Jose had an old friend from NY visiting here. John is 32 now. married with 3 young kids. Jose and I broke him in when he was 22.

He was a young cop then and we taught him to do narcotic search warrants with us at that time.

He and Jose became close friends. Jose is the godfather of his kids now.

After 911, John left NY and became an air marshal.

So when he was down here with his family, they all were staying at Jose's house where we all spent a few days together putting up a fence .

During one time working the fence, John and I got to be a lone for a while. I asked him how he was and to my surprise, he said, Ira how old are you? I answered 52,,,,,,John smiled and said....Buddy I’m never making it to your age. I go to the pulminologist every 6 months,, ,,,,,my lungs are filled with crap from 911 and they can’t do anything for me. Its only a matter of time till it catches up to me. Nothing the docs can do.

John was 2 blocks away when the planes hit,, ,he and his squad ran over and helped pull people from the towers during that time he was knocked out from the explosion and was found a block away unconscious.

He woke in the hospital. He stayed a day then against medical advise signed himself out to go back to dig. He said he just had to. He said he collapsed two other separate times and woke again in the hospital and each time left to go back and dig in the pile.

Finally, after weeks he quit and went back to work. He said his story as that of hundreds of cops who kept working the pile just to re coved the guys they lost and never did the city do anything in the way of Scot packs for them. just bulls. .t paper masks. He said the air was completely filled with dust and no one knows it, but the guys all breather the dust which actually was everything that the two building contained that day. EVERYTHING was reduced to dust due to the weight of the collapsed buildings and pressure within them. That's why they couldn't recover many of the bodies.

Only one cop has just died as a result of breathing the crap from the pile. So many more will follow.

Pal, So many of my friends worked the pile and the land fill where all the crap went to , where they worked conveyor belts picking out pieces of people and items of clothing and ID's to help identify anyone they could.

I fear not only for my friends but for all of them.

Best wishes,
Ira
