INTRODUCED MAY 27, 1890 AND REPLACED IN 1976.

AUTOMIBLE.

Chief Inspector rank was introduced in 1922 and used for a few years
afterwards.
This Official rank was equivalent to the replaced Marshal of Police and
answered directly to the Police Commissioner.
He was basically the Chief of Police under the Commissioner.
There was only one Chief Inspector over the regular Inspectors of the Department.

An interesting and rare matched set of the 4th issued badge and hat devices from 1880 through the
present day.

Badges were manufactured by the Hahn Company in Baltimore, Maryland without any hallmark.
Hahn manufactured badges for the department from the mid 1800’s through 1976.
