FRATERNAL ORDER OF POLICE ENDORSES MCCAIN!!! |

Chuck Canterbury, National President of the Fraternal Order of Police, today announced the organization's
endorsement of
Senator John S. McCain III for the office of President.
"The FOP carefully considered the
records and the responses of both candidates and, in our evaluation, Senator McCain will provide greater leadership for our
country and for our nation's law enforcement officers," Canterbury said. "We will be proud to stand behind him this November,
and to stand with him for the next four years."
For a candidate to receive the endorsement of the Fraternal Order of
Police, he must receive a two-third majority of the National Board, which is made up of one Trustee from each of the organization's
State Lodges.
"Our National Board, and the more than 327,000 members of the FOP, acquainted themselves with Senator
McCain's record, and, after meeting with him face to face in July, he made it very clear that he is with us on the issues
most important to our members," Canterbury said. "Like our members, he sees issues through the eyes of someone that has been
on the front lines. That is exactly the kind of perspective, and the kind of leadership, that we need in the White House."
Canterbury
cited Senator McCain's strong support for the FOP's efforts to amend the Law Enforcement Officers' Safety Act and pledged
to work with the organization in crafting our nation's law enforcement policy.
"Senator John McCain is a proven leader
with a clear record of support for the men and women who put their lives on the line—just as he did—to defend
our communities and our nation," Canterbury said. "I am proud to offer the Senator our endorsement today and I look forward
to working with the McCain Administration over the next four years."

FOP BURIAL RITUAL
“We come to pay our last respects to a member of the Fraternal order of Police who has answered
his last call on earth. He has gone out on his last assignment of duty. He has been promoted and we gather to honor his memory.
We shall never be the same because we have known him and we are affected by everyone whom we know. So, because we have known
and because he has served in the dangerous, and the enforcement of law, as fellow police officers, we take time amid the busy
rush of this world to stand quietly for these moments and express the sadness in our hearts and by our presence here, show
our real sense of loss and our determination that he shall not be forgotten.
We gather here to salute as a real officer and a real gentleman, this comrade of our, who has left
us. We petition the King of Kings, to write all his faults in the sand so that the wind can blow them away.
Let us pray: Our Father, we Pray that in this hour of our need, thou shall be very
near. May thy blessing of helpfulness be with everyone that mourns. Hold in the arms of Your Infinite love, the relatives
and family of our departed comrade and as we are reminded by this occasion of the shortness of life and the need for our doing
now that which we are to do, we ask that Thou wilt help us to be better men and officers. May Thou blessing surround and keep
us all. AMEN.
And now, would every police officer stand at attention in silence for a moment as we salute once more,
and for the last time, this departed member of our order

Prayer for Opening of Lodge
Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, we thank Thee, because amid the perplexities of each day's demands Thou hast declared
the way of eternal life. In love of Thee and in love of our fellow men, help us to honor Thee. In sincere affection, may we
minister to those about us. In faith in Thee we would cherish the constant hope that in ever fuller measure we may help to
establish Thy kingdom of love. Bless this Lodge and its members. These things we pray in the name of Our Savior, who loved
us and gave Himself for us. Amen.
POLICE
Funeral Ritual
My Brothers and Sisters, we have all sworn to perform our duties, impartially and without hesitation
or fear. Our present duty, and though it be painful, is to pay a just and deserving tribute of honor to a Brother who has
embarked upon that lone journey which leads through the valley of the great shadow into the sunlight of perpetual day and
lasting tranquility.
The feeble but heart-felt words of this simple ritual can do little more than remind us of the duty
which we owe to our departed friend and colleague.
As he was ever faithful to us in the full performance of his task and the protection of those who slept,
so let us be, my Brothers and Sisters, faithful to him, ever zealous to protect and cherish the memory of his good deeds,
forgetting his imperfections, and emblazoning his accomplishments.
As time runs on, in sun and shade, may we bear with us ever-pleasant memories of a hallowed friendship,
a kindly feeling, and a deep respect for all our Brother stood for. As an indication of our regard and affection, let us pause
and, in silent meditation, typify what mere words cannot express. (Pause)
Let us pray:
Almighty God, be with us on this occasion. Strengthen us in a firm resolve to do right, to serve well,
to be faithful to our tasks, to our community, and to our Brothers. Make us appreciative of the opportunities to do good and
to lend a helping hand. Inspire us with a new devotion to fulfill the duties, which are entrusted to our keeping. May those
who mourn be comforted in this sad hour, and may they be strengthened by the knowledge of Thy presence and Thy omnipotence.
May we be constantly reminded in the hours of the night, as well as in the brightness of the day, of
Thy everlasting love and kindness, and may Thou guide us through this uncharted valley and bring us at last to the shore of
the eternal stream, our ranks unbroken, to dwell with Thee forever more. We ask this humbly through Thy redeeming grace and
power. Amen.
