COUNTDOWN TO CHRISTMAS

A Different Christmas Poem (Police Version)
The embers glowed softly, and in their dim light, I gazed round the room
and I cherished the sight.
My wife was asleep, her head on my chest, My daughter beside me, angelic in rest.
Outside the snow fell, a blanket of white, transforming the yard to a winter delight.
The sparkling lights in the tree I believe, Completed the magic that was Christmas Eve.
My eyelids were heavy, my breathing was deep, secure and surrounded by love, I would sleep.
In perfect contentment, or so it would seem, So I slumbered, perhaps I started to dream.
The sound wasn't loud, and it wasn't too near, But I opened my eyes when it tickled my ear.
Perhaps just a cough, I didn't quite know, Then the sure sound of footsteps outside in the snow.
My soul gave a tremble, I struggled to hear, And I crept to the door just to see who was near.
Standing out in the cold and the dark of the night, A lone figure stood, his face weary and
tight.
A Police Officer, I puzzled, so very young, no doubt a loving son, huddled here in the cold.
Alone in the dark, he looked up and smiled, Standing watch over me, and my wife and my child.
"What are you doing?" I asked without fear, "Come in this moment, it's freezing out here!
Put down your equipment, brush the snow from your sleeve, You should be at home on a cold Christmas
Eve!"
For barely a moment I saw his eyes shift, away from the cold and the snow blown in drifts.
To the window that danced with a warm fire's light.
Then he sighed and he said "Its really all right, I'm out here by choice.
I'm here every night.”
"It's my duty to stand at the front of the line, that separates you from the darkest of times."
"No one had to ask or beg or implore me,
I'm proud to stand here like my brothers before me.
My one brother died on a domestic call on a day in December,"
Then he sighed, "That's a Christmas 'I’ll always remembers."
"My other brothers stood their watch in the streets of this city, And now it is my turn and
so, here I am.
I will not seen my own son for a while, but my wife is taking care of him, he's sure got her
smile."
Then he bent and he carefully pulled from his pocket, The picture of them that brought a tear
to his eye socket.
I can live through the cold and the being alone, Away from my family, my house and my home.
I can stand at my post through the rain and the sleet, I can make due with little to eat.
I can carry the weight of killing another, or lay down my life with my sister and brother.
Who stand at the front against any and all, to ensure for all time that this peace will not
fall."
"So go back inside," he said, "harbor no fright, your family is waiting and I'll be all right."
"But isn't there something I can do, at the least, give you money," I asked, "or prepare you
a feast?
It seems all too little for all that you've done, For being away from your wife and your son."
Then his eye welled a tear that held no regret, "Just tell us you love us, and never forget.
To pray for our families back at home while we're gone, To stand your own watch, no matter how
long.
For when we come home, either standing or dead, To know you remember we fought and we bled.
Is payment enough, and with that we will trust, That we mattered to you as you mattered to us."
PLEASE, Would you do me the kind favor of sending this to as many people as you can?
Christmas will be coming soon and some credit is due to our Police men and women for our being
able to celebrate these festivities. Let's try in this small way to pay a tiny bit of what we owe.
Make people stop and think of our heroes, living and dead, who sacrificed themselves for us.
PLEASE REMEMBER OUR POLICE IN PRAYER,WHERE EVER THEY ARE,
GOD BLESS THEM ALL

A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS, HAPPY HOLIDAYS AND BEST WISHES
FOR A HAPPY AND HEALTHY AND BLESSED NEW YEAR TO ALL IN THE LAW ENFORCEMENT FAMILY

"A C op's Thanksgiving Prayer"
No festive meal for me tonight Spare me calls
of senseless fights Make there be no children lost No drunk drivers and the resulting cost
Let there be peace in our town’s
homes Don’t make me hear a battered wife’s moans Let the gang-bangers enjoy a turkey feast And spare
the streets their bloody lease May those
with no roof, find shelter tonight And those who are lost, find a guiding light Let those who on the helpless prey Leave
their victims untouched this day Don’t
ask me to deliver news of the death Of loved ones, far away, in a wreck Show me no children, who have been abused Who’s
haunted eyes reveal, the parent accused Give
me a night without guns, blood or tears A night without useless pain, suffering or fears If you spare me this night
all of these things I’ll call it even Lord, and a
Happy Thanksgiving

Jesus is the Reason for the Season !!!

A letter from Heaven: To my dearest family,
some things I'd like to say... but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above. Here, there's no more tears of
sadness; here is just eternal love. Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight. Remember that I'm with you
every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through, God picked me up and
hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone. As
for your dearest family, they'll be here later on. I need you here badly; you're part of my plan. There's so much that
we have to do, to help our mortal man."
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do. And foremost
on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight, God
and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years because
you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears. But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain. Remember
there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned. But
if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is over. I'm
closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb; but
together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too... that
as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain, then
you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile, knowing
as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low, just lend
a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind; I'm
walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free, remember
you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
To the Police Family: Thank
you for your sacrifice, it will never go forgotten. I wish you well in the roads ahead, you are all in my prayers. God Bless
you.
To our Fallen Heroes: Thank your for your service,
BROTHER. Keep watch over us all and God Bless you. You were a great man and a wonderful friend. Keep close to your family
and know you will always be remembered and loved by many.

" Beyond
a Christmas Day" Working on a holiday Is
not so very strange To public servants everywhere Cause some things never change,They sacrifice, so we can live In peace through out the land Christmas Day
and everyday We need their helping hand.So
don't forget to thank the Lord When Santa's gone away For all the peace these servants bring Beyond a Christmas Day.MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

"C hristmas Pursuit" Radar set up, the streets are so slow This Christmas Eve night, the town is aglow Looking
to catch one who's had too much booze Carols low on the radio; I drift to a light snooze The tone sounds loud and spurs me alert As
I snap up my head, in a quick little jerk The radar reads sixty-eight, in a forty-five zone Just might be my drunk,
trying to make it home He's past a curve, and out of my sight Before my car's in gear, and I turn on my light Speeding
to catch him, snow on the ground The roadway is icy, my heart starts to pound Coming up on a curve, my prey he has slowed As
I close in on him, he's way overload With bags and packages piled in the rear My lights he can't see, my siren he can't
hear But I kill my siren, my lights go off too The mike's in my hand, what can I do How can I call in
and say, "I'm in pursuit" Of a man driving a sleigh, in a red and white suit"

"A Cop's Christmas Prayer"
Dedicated to all those who give up
so much, that others may enjoy peace
and security during Christmas and all
holiday seasons, and to my family and
friends who have stood by me and
given me strength and courage to go on.
Christmas morn comes early,
For the Cop out on his beat.
His family home around the tree
As he cruises a lonely street.
The sound of tearing paper,
The glow in his young child's eye,
The merry toast his Father made
That Christmas fore he died.
The scattered toys that lay beneath
The tree as it starts to shed,
These are the thoughts that give him pause,
As he bowed his head and said,
Father, faithfully I have tried to protect
My fellow man this year.
My Christmas wish, keep safe my own,
For I cannot always be near. Grant me the strength I'll need this day
To complete what ever the task,
Keep safe this lowly servant Lord,
Is all my family would ask.
As I travel down many lonely roads,
While o’er my beat I roam,
Please help me show my brother
That he stands not all alone.
He raised his head to check his runs
As a thought began to grow,
A Child was born this blessed day
Those many years ago,
He fought a righteous battle
As he traveled land and sea.
He too had come to protect and serve
His brother, just like me.

A POLICE OFFICER'S CHRISTMAS POEM
'Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the streets,
Not a person was stirring, 'cept an officer on the beat. As he quietly patrolled the city with care, Children
and parents slept peacefully there. The officer was clad in his blues and his vest, Gun on his hip, always looking
his best. He'd just pulled aside for a quick bite to eat, When all of a sudden, out on the street, A bright light
appeared from out of nowhere, He shielded his eyes from the brilliant glare. 'Twas an angel of the Lord at the car's
rear, He smiled and spoke, "Dear Officer, don't fear." "I've been sent by God with a message for you Who faithfully
serve while wearing the blue. He wants you to know that He loves you all, He's pleased with the way you've answered
His call. "To protect and serve others, so selfless you've been, Your bravery and kindness have known no end. Even
in tragedy, when nights became long, You've helped countless strangers by just being strong. "God sees your heart,
the joy and the pain, He knows the profession can often bring strain. So he sent me down here to let you know, That
as you patrol, you are never alone. "As you protect others, your Father protects you, His angels go with you, His
Spirit does, too. No bullet's too fast, no bad guy too strong, I'm sent to make sure that your life will be long.
"So fear not the night, and fear not the day, fear not the threats that might come your way. I'm sent to accompany
you on your beat, There's not one moment you're alone on the street." The officer sat stunned by the love of His God,
He bowed his head, with a tear gave a nod. As the officer said thank you, the angel took flight, "God's got your
back, carry on, and goodnight."

Remember My Birthday ????!!!!
When I received this, I read it to the end,
and then I stayed in my seat, motionless, speechless...
Didn't we all do what those people did,, just imagine how it felt for Him,
Please read it and pass it on to people whom you care for,
so they don't shut the door again.
As you well know, we are getting closer to my birthday.
Every year there is a celebration in my honor and I think that
this year the celebration will be repeated. During this time
there are many people shopping for gifts, there are many
radio announcements, TV commercials, and in every part of
the world everyone is talking that my birthday is getting
closer and closer.
It is really very nice to know, that at least once a year, some people
think of me. As you know, the celebration of my birthday began many
years ago. At first people seemed to understand and be thankful of all
that I did for them, but in these times, no one seems to know the reason
for the celebration. Family and friends get together and have a lot of fun,
but they don't know the meaning of the celebration.
I remember that last year there was a great feast in my honor.
The dinner table was full of delicious foods, pastries, fruits, assorted
nuts and chocolates. The decorations were exquisite and there were many, many beautifully wrapped gifts.
But, do you want to know something? I wasn't invited. I was the guest of honor and they didn't remember to send me an invitation.
The party was for me, but when that great day came, I was left outside, they closed the door in my
face......... and I wanted to be with them and share their table.
In truth, that didn't surprise me because in the last few years all close their doors to me.
Since I was not invited, I decided to enter the party without making any noise.
I went in and stood in a corner. They were all drinking; there were some who were drunk and telling
jokes and laughing at everything. They were having a great time.
To top it all, this big fat man all dressed in red wearing a long white beard entered the room yelling
Ho-Ho-Ho! He seemed drunk. He sat on the sofa and all the children ran to him, saying : "Santa Claus,
Santa Claus"... as if the party were in his honor !
At 12 midnight all the people began to hug each other ; I extended my arms waiting for someone to hug
me and .... do you know ... no one hugged me. Suddenly they all began to share gifts. They opened them one by one with great
expectation. When all had been opened, I looked to see if, maybe, there was one for me.
What would you feel if on your birthday everybody shared gifts and you did not get one?
I then understood that I was unwanted at that party and quietly left. Every year it gets worse. People
only remember to eat and drink, the gifts, the parties an nobody remembers me.
I would like this Christmas that you allow me to enter into your life.
I would like that you recognize the fact that almost two thousand years ago
I came to this world to give my life for you, on the cross, to save you.
Today, I only want that you believe this with all you heart.
I want to share something with you. As many didn't invite me to their party,
I will have my own celebration, a grandiose party that no one has ever imagined, a spectacular party.
I'm still making the final arrangements. Today I am sending out many invitations and there is a invitation
for you. I want to know if you wish to attend and I will make a reservation for you and write
your name with golden letters in my great guest book. Only those on the guest list will be invited
to the party. Those who don't answer the invitation, will be left outside.
Do you know how you can answer this invitation? it is by extending it to others whom you care for...
I'll be waiting for all of you to attend my party this year...
See you soon .... I love you !
-Jesus-

The Legend of the Candy Cane
Look at the Candy Cane What do you
see?
Stripes that are red Like the blood shed for me
White is for my Savior Who's sinless
and pure!
"J" is for Jesus My Lord, that's for sure!
Turn it around And a staff you will see Jesus my shepherd Was born for Me!
Many years ago,
a candy maker wanted to make a candy at Christmas time that would serve as a witness to his Christian faith. He wanted to
incorporate several symbols for the birth, ministry and death of Jesus. He began with a stick of pure white hard candy; white
to symbolize the Virgin Birth and the sinless nature of Jesus; hard to symbolize the solid rock, the foundation of the Church;
firmness to represent the promise of God.
The candymaker made the candy in the form of
a "J" to represent the name of Jesus, who came to earth as our Savior. He thought it could also represent the staff of the
Good Shepherd, with which he reached down into the ditches of the world to lift out the fallen lambs who, like all sheep,
have gone astray.
Thinking that the candy was somewhat plain, the
candy maker stained it with red stripes. He used three small stripes to show the stripes of the scourging Jesus received,
by which we are healed. The large red stripe was for the blood shed by Christ on the cross so that we could have the promise
of eternal life. Unfortunately, the candy became known as a candy cane - a meaningless decoration seen at Christmas time.
But the true meaning is still there for those who have eyes to see and ears to hear.

Wise Men Still Seek Him
United with the Angels, we praise
The Holy One........ The earth shall send forth light in honor of God's Son.
My wish for you this Christmas Comes wrapped
in prayers of love For peace and joy to fill your heart Received from God above
That Heaven shines upon you Each new and shining day That blessings overflow for
you And in His love you'll stay
Merry Christmas My Friend May His love and joy fill your heart at Christmas and throughout the whole
year!

"A Stocking For Jesus".
One year we made our stockings out of felt and glitter and ribbon. When we had made all
of them and still had supplies left we decided to make one for Jesus.
When the children asked what Santa would put in it, I told them that Jesus doesn't want gifts
from Santa, He wants gifts from us. So together we decided that when we hung our stockings, we would also hang one for Jesus.
Every time we thought of something that we were thankful for, we would write a little thank-you note, and stick it in the
stocking.
Then on Christmas Day, after eating a festive dinner, we would pass the stocking around and
take turns pulling out the notes and reading them out loud.
This has grown every year, to the point that as soon as Thanksgiving dinner
is over, we get out the stocking for Jesus and it is the first Christmas decoration up!
When a friend or family member visits, we ask them to give a gift to Jesus.
My children are all grown now, but it is a tradition that continues. No one ever signs the notes and when
the whole family gathers together for Christmas dinner, we all look forward to passing the stocking around.

Do you know what the word FAMILY means?
