The competitive spirit between the Baltimore Police Department and the Baltimore City Fire Department was kindled aglow recently at a bowling match between members of the two Departments. Held at the Seidel Lanes in the 4400 Block of Belair Road on March 13, 1970, the three-game match was won by the policemen when they squeezed past the competition by 44 pins.

The trophy, awarded to the winners, was presented to Commissioner Pomerleau by Officer William Honeycutt (L), Northern District, and Firefighter Frank Schlosser (R), of Truck Company No.7, who were the organizers of the bowling meet. The Commissioner accepted the trophy on behalf of all those members who participated in the competition and expressed pleasure in the fact that members of two agencies who work so closely together feel the desire to engage in healthy social activities. The Commissioner stated that he would have the trophy displayed at all the Districts and then have it returned to a permanent location in the Headquarters Building trophy case.

Each interested member will fire a total of 90 rounds at a competition type bulls-eye target. The Camp Perry Course requires a 30 round series to be shot in increments of 10 rounds from 25 yards. Three series must be shot and it is recommended that in order to maintain full concentration the officer not shoot the full 90 rounds in one day.
