Woodfield Elementary School H1N1 Information

               

                In the event of an emergency school closure due to the H1N1 virus, students should read the following lessons and complete the activities assigned for each day.  If the school is closed for more than two days, additional instructions and plans will be available online at the school’s website or in the Office.  Packets will be due on the next open school day.

 

Day 1:

 

Reading- 

1.  Read the article “Flu Shock” in the Sept. 4, 2009 issue of Weekly Reader. 

                    

2.  Complete pg. 8 questions for Swine Flu Hot Spots, Know the News, and Word Power.

                    

3.  Do the H1N1 Weekly Reader Article BCR. 

 

Writing- 

Begin your H1N1 Personal Narrative rough draft.  Make sure to

                           *brainstorm a list of ideas

                           *use the graphic organizer to help organize them

                           * write a rough draft with a lead. 

                   

Each of these Writing Process steps will be due when you return to school.

 

Science- 

1.  Read “How Do Living and Nonliving Things Interact?” pages 40-43 only.

                  

2.  Complete the “Organisms and Where They Live” worksheet, #1-10 only (front side) using information from your reading.

 

4th Grade Math-  

1.  Read the lesson about 3-Dimensional Figures. 

                                     

2.  Complete the 3-Dimensional Figures worksheets, problems #1-10.

 

5th Grade Math- 

Complete problems #1-10 in the Math Review packet.

 

Math A- 

Visit the 5th grade webpage from Woodfield Elementary School’s homepage.  Go to H1N1 directions/handout link and follow the directions posted there.

 

Day 2:

 

Reading- 

1.  Read the Summarization lesson about the baby parrot.

                    

2.  Read and answer questions #1-10 in the Summarization packet.

 

Writing-  

Continue working on your H1N1 Personal Narrative.  Make sure to...

  • reread what you wrote in your 1st draft, editing to make it clear and detailed
  • edit and revise your work with someone (parent or older sibling).  Make your editing marks using a pen or colored pencil on your 1st draft from Day 1 (above).
  • write your final draft neatly

Each of these Writing Process steps will be due when you return to school.

 

Science- 

1.  Read “What Types of Roles Do Organisms Play?” pages 46-50.

                  

2.  Complete the “Organisms and Where They Live” worksheet, #11-23 (back) using information from the Day 1 and Day 2 readings.

 

4th Grade Math- 

1.  Read the lesson about Place Value. 

                                    

2.  Complete the Place Value worksheet front and back, #1-10.

 

5th Grade Math- 

Complete problems #11-19 in the Math review packet.

 

Math A-
