Introducing the Site . . .

It was 3:38 AM on Saturday, June 2, 2007, as I began this blog.  The Moon would be void-of-course in a few hours and I was rushing to beat the deadline.  Why?  Because projects fizzle out when they start under a void-of-course Moon.  For a full explanation, click Void Moon above.  The short answer is: it means uncertain skies and a shift in the cosmic weather.

The astrological "weather" is constantly changing as the planets shift position and alignments.  The Daily Stellarscope (below) tracks the transitions with an  astrological forecast for each day of the week, issuing storm warnings when appropriate.   It tells you what to expect and, possibly, what to avoid.

Void-of-course Moon alerts are included, with times given for the four contiguous U.S. time zones.  For the long-range monthly and seasonal outlook, click Oracle on the menu (or "The Monthly Oracle" on the site map).

The Bulletin Board could just as well be called the "X-Files."  This is where I'll post items of interest, celestial, supernatural, or simply quirky.  Click Bulletins.   New items are added (or removed) almost daily so check often.

This and Data has a schedule for all retrograde planets in 2008, a list of lunar perigees and apogees for the year, and a calendar of conjunctions.  I have also added a link to the World Clock at the top of the page.  Click Data on the menu bar.

The Archives page is the depository for items which might come in handy for future reference.  Most of the material consists of past bulletins.  The contents are subject to deletion if they get too stale but that won't happen often, if at all.  Archives are supposed to be "stale." Musty, anyway.  Click Archives  on the menu.

I have added a separate page for the birth chart of the United States.  Look for USA Horoscope on the site map.  I also moved related material from the Archives and Bulletin Board to the new page, mostly election commentary and a discussion of Pluto's effect on the economy.

The system and I are out of sync so an entry will often be dated for the previous day.  The sub-heading in red caps is the date of the report -- inserted by human hand (mine).  The date above is when it was posted (an auto-stamp with a mind of its own).

Reports appear in advance.  When the planets are lining up, that could be as much as several days so individual daily entries may be grouped under one posting date.

The pictures are chiefly dividers to distinguish one day from another -- in case those red caps aren't enough -- but I try to pick one that fits the theme of the day.

If you click on a link and get a "page unavailable" message -- or if an "X" shows up where a picture should be -- hit the Refresh button on your browser.  This solves the problem.

Comments are always welcome.  Be sure to get in touch so I know you're out there!  You can add a comment to my guest book by clicking the button below.  Or you can e-mail from the "Contact Me" link.

A FRISKY THURSDAY
Red Tumbling AppleA FRISKY THURSDAY, OCT. 16

Mercury turned direct yesterday, unplugging the flow of information.  Today it's a trickle; tomorrow, a tsunami.  Keep the surfboard handy.

The Moon is at perigee tomorrow -- emotional high tide -- which extends the Full Moon effect.  It also stiffens our resolve.

The Moon is in dogged Taurus: we have our feet on the ground and our eyes on the objective.  The Moon trines rejuvenating Jupiter and sedulous Saturn this morning in a fleeting grand trine -- a lucky alignment.

With Saturn, however, we have to make our own luck.  Fortune favors self-promoters (and those in the right place at the right time).

Fog descends this afternoon, as the Moon squares off with nebulous Neptune.  People will be absent-minded, inattentive, and off in a world of their own.

There's an awakening this evening.  For some it could be rude; for others, a revelation.  In the wee hours, the Moon opposes sensitive  Venus and the night owls will feel vulnerable.

Today's planting tip:  Taurus is an Earth sign, very fertile, and we are in the third quarter of the lunar cycle:  It is especially propitious for tubers and bulbs.

A WOBBLY WEDNESDAY
Striped Tumbling Box on a PlankA WOBBLY WEDNESDAY, OCT. 15

The headline today: animated Mercury turns direct, resuming its normal motion and reviving the urge to interact.  Starting today we get unstuck -- but we could also come unglued.

We probably won't notice an immediate difference unless a bad situation takes a turn for the worse.  Mercury officially turns direct after lunch but it will take days getting up to speed.

The Moon is in torpid Taurus; our greatest obstacle is inertia.  Don't try to move mountains this morning but you might give them a nudge this afternoon.

A great weight may be lifted though it could be the result of blowing your top.  The Moon opposes combative Mars in surly Scorpio: People will be prickly, nasty, and accident prone.  Allow for foul-ups, blood feuds, and fender benders.  Fortune favors the prudent.

If you have to clear the air -- or make a point -- the evening is a good time to start.  The Moon and Venus face off across the Equator, intensifying our awareness of one another.  People will be receptive, reasonable and, perchance, romantic.  The night owls will crave affection.

Today's planting tip:  Taurus is a very fertile Earth sign and it's the third quarter phase, perfect conditions for spring bulbs like tulips and daffodils.  Perennials do well, too.

A TINDERBOX TUESDAY
Red Growing Radiation SymbolA TINDERBOX TUESDAY, OCT. 14

Mental Mercury is dead in the water, and the Moon is full in aggressive Aries -- this could be frustrating, if not infuriating.  This Full Moon is called the "Hunter's Moon," and it is aptly named.  We're ready to shoot first and ask questions later.

During a Full Moon, the Sun and Moon are in opposition and we play the rope in a cosmic tug-of-war.  This is when we are most likely to snap.  And with this Full Moon, we are stretched to the limit.

As it opposes the Sun, the Moon conjoins the dwarf planet Eris.  Eris is a "plutoid" but it is larger than Pluto.  If size matters, it is just as capable of wreaking havoc.

The horoscope for this Full Moon, located at Washington, DC, looks like a blueprint for disaster.  (You can see the chart on the "Bulletins" page.)  It also echoes themes in the Election Day horoscope that show fraud and enticement.

Temptation rears its pretty little head this afternoon, as the Moon sextiles intriguing Neptune.  The Sun trines Neptune, as well; all of which arouses our imaginations.  But it also inspires zealots.

The evening opens with congeniality and climaxes with heavy breathing.  The Moon trines conjugal Juno, and our cockles are all aglow.

In the wee hours, the Moon trines primal Pluto; the night owls will be howling.  After that, however, better muzzle it because the Moon is void-of-course:

In the East, it runs from 3:36 AM to 5:32 AM.  (One hour earlier for Central Time.)

On the West Coast and in Arizona, it's 12:36 AM to 2:32 AM.  (An hour later for Mountain Time.)

Today's planting tip:  Tomorrow is a perfect day to plant for springtime.  We will be in the third quarter phase with the Moon in Taurus, ideal for bulbs, corms, and tubers.

A MAVERICK MONDAY
Harpsicord, SpinningA MAVERICK MONDAY, OCT. 13

The Moon is in combustible Aries, and we are into the warm-up for tomorrow's Full Moon -- and this one could be a lollapalooza.  It conjoins the dwarf planet Eris, named for the goddess of strife and discord.

We are feeling the tension already.  Mental Mercury is motionless as it prepares to turn direct Wednesday.  If you have been waiting for the other shoe to drop, it's about to hit the floor. It could also hit the fan.

Today: hold your horses and don't jump the gun.  Above all, don't jump to conclusions.

That's easier said than done this afternoon as the Moon opposes Mercury -- their last encounter with Mercury retrograde.  It could be memorable for all the wrong reasons.

If you have papers to sign, forms to fill out or a statement to make, take a few days to go over the fine print -- and to consider the consequences.

There's magic in the air tonight.  The Sun trines visionary Neptune tomorrow but we fall under the spell by sundown.  This alignment is often inspiring, it is usually enlightening, and it often brings an epiphany.  The night owls will be intrigued.

Today's planting tip:  The Moon is waning in Aries, a "barren" Fire sign, making this a good time to pick apples and mow hay.
