My wife and I moved to NJ in 1962.  We moved to Ridgewood in 1963.  We have enjoyed the town, the local color and educating our children in Ridgewood schools.
 
I opened Ridgewood Furniture Refinishing in 1973 after leaving the business sector of New York City. 
 
Besides a place for repairing and restoring furniture the shop has been the site of Eagle Scout and Brownie projects, RHS band poinsettia sales, adult school presentations and projects by family members. 
 
Ridgewood Furniture Refinishing, the place and the work of its special employees are woven into the fabric of the Schlecht lives.
