Known bugs/limitations.
- Double clicking the tray icon will result in the settings dialog to pop, but not have focus.
- Only ESMTP auth login is supported at this time. ESMTP auth plain, cram-md5, etc. are not supported. If your smtp server does not support esmtp auth login, this will result in an smtp login failure displayed on the tool tip.
- On wireless connections the notifier may fail to connect on system startup. It may be up to 10 minutes before the public IP is determined. See next comment.
- It may take up to 10 minutes before a change in the public IP address is detected. This is intentional.
- The installer creates a shortcut in the startup folder for the current user only. Configuration changes are applied for the current user only.
- A help file is not included with this program. The type of user who needs this should already know how to configure this program.
Why I created this Application.
- I needed this application and I wanted to make sure that it consumed the least amount of system resources. Hey, I'm running this too!
- The other offerings I have seen require you to install .NET Framework 1.1 first. What an awful burden to place on the people who don't already have the Framework installed.
- It is free and I trust it :-)
- It will run on Windows 98, ME, 2000, XP, and Vista. Actually, it may run on Windows 95. If you are running Windows 95, it is past time to upgrade.
