The USS Hayter was commissioned on 03/16/1944 at the Charleston,S.C.Navy yard. It was decommissioned after
two years of active duty,on 03/19/1946. It was my "Home away from Home" for those two years. I was discharged from the US
Navy on the same day 03/19/1946.(Feast of St.Joseph)==Joe Bergen
