In
November of 1991 when I purchased the Shore Fast Line and renamed it "The Southern Railroad Company of New Jersey" it was suffering and breathing its last breaths. The Railroad had suffered serious business declines
and was desperately in need of repairs after years of neglect.
I had hoped the opportunity to apply non-traditional railroad practices would turn around the future. It was hoped
that good dependable ingenious service, meeting the customer’s needs at a fair price should get business back on the
rails. Their was a larger learning curve than I expected, but over time and with help it started to work, and business increased.
Being a railfan for more than fifty years gave me the chance to be the president of a railroad, something I would
have never expected. Keeping this in mind I have tried to be railfan friendly. Wherever possible, I have tried to treat railfans
as I would have liked to be treated.
Our employees have provided the highest levels of professional service, resulting in substantial business growth.
We hope to continue growing the business and rebuilding the railroad.
