Statement of Purpose
I.A.M.A. was founded by Gary Alexander, a former Marine and
Martial Artist who was/is on the cutting edge of the growing popularity of the Martial Arts in the United States and abroad.
Seeing the need for organization, Gary Alexander formed I.A.M.A.
His idea was the bringing together of those Martial Artists that agreed that Standards and Combined effort, were needed, and
I.A.M.A. would provide a Base, and Platform to express views and get jobs done. Helping each other in the process. This is
advantageous to all that would subscribe and become involved.

I.A.M.A. would provide a forum for better interfaces with
styles, better teaching methods, standards rules to govern competitions, standards of excellence, criteria for the awarding
of rank, and combined business potentials.
“Time has proven that organized elements have prevailed and flourished”
Through combined effort we can enhance, train, and preserve
the Integrity of the Traditional Fighting Arts.
With strength of numbers we can offer benefits to the Membership
that would be hard to obtain by going it alone. And, as Membership grows more comprehensive benefits will evolve.
We live in a sophisticated society now that requires intelligent
and progressive leadership at all levels if we are to stand strong toward positive and negative elements revolving around
the Martial Arts.
To date I.A.M.A. has been respected for having been a pioneering
force in the forefront of the development of Karate/Martial Arts in the United States.
We hold the “First” Karate titles
(1962) ever awarded in the Western Hemisphere. and we are recognized by the International Martial Arts Community, as being
the recipients of the highest legitimate Honors available to Martial Artists worldwide.

PRESTIGE:
I.A.M.A. has been a recognized leader in the Martial Arts, having produced the very first champion in North America 1962,,
we have sponsored the first annual karate championships since 1964, now the longest running martial arts event in the world
after 37 years, we sponsored the first kickboxing events in this country since1974 through 1980. We have received every top
honor and award for martial artists, we have produced masters, champions, and thousands of survivors. We have trained law
enforcement, military on several continents, and many thousands of men, women, and children. We invite you to be a part of
this!
COMBINED POWER:
Through I.A.M.A. we can accomplish much in the way of Lobbying, Supporting, and Purchasing Power, by strength of numbers.
EXCHANGE IDEAS:
With other Members about systems, business, history, traditions, training methods, and psychology’s.
SAVE MONEY:
Reduced for events sponsored by I.A.M.A. or any of the Member events such as conferences, championships, seminars, socials,
instructional courses, and products.
LISTING:
In our Directory of members so that people know where to find you for mailings, new members, visits, and general contact.
SUPPORT:
Priority for your projects through I.A.M.A. our membership may be kept abreast of events being sponsored by our promoter members
directly through our newsletters and mail lists.
TRAINING:
Members may visit any member school for (2) two classes per year - free of charge for active members.
CONSULTING:
You may contact the association on matters of importance to you. Information will be given free of charge.For matters requiring
extended consultations reasonable fee may be charged to cover administrative time and costs.
CERTIFICATION:
Instructors, Black Belts, and Students, may be tested for advancement in rank of determination of rank, and certified to receive
our diploma, and I.D. Card, Lapel Pin, that you can be proud to display as a registered member of I.A.M.A., an “elite”
Worldwide Martial Arts Organization.
RATING PROGRAM:
Martial Arts Instructors, Outstanding Students, and Sports Competitors, will receive International recognition for performance.
BE INVOLVED:
As Black Belt Member you can apply to become an, Executive of I.A.M.A. as part of the International, National, Regional and
State levels. We are looking for Executives to recruit, sponsor activities/events, report, administrate, and support the efforts
of I.A.M.A. to build and maintain a strong, viable, respected, progressive, martial Arts Association.
TRAVEL:
As you travel locally or abroad you can contact member schools/organizations to visit and train with. It is always good to
have someone around in a common bond as you move around training, social, or for emergencies.
FRANCHISE MEMBERSHIP: Dojo’s, Course’s, Programs, Events, may file for the Prestige, Endorsement and Organizational
approval for Instructional Methods, Materials, and Certification of Instructors qualifications to conduct such martial arts
training with I.A.M.A.
