Rhonda Cox wrote her first poem, "Yo Homme Romeo" during 1991 in response to Naughty By Nature's
"O.P.P." rap song. She has won various contests; awards such as the Editor's Choice Award, Zerobox Poetry 2000, the Hottest
Poet Radio Call-in Competition and qualified as semi- Finalist in the National Grand Slam. Her credits include inductions
in the following; "The Silence Within Anthology", "Diamond In The Rough Anthology". "The Sound Of Poetry" CD and quarterly
publication Nomad's Choir; featuring the poem "Awesome Autumn", (Fall 2006) issue. Among her titles are
"Shotgun Wedding", "Awesome Autumn", "Monarch's Anarchy",
"The Highlander" (TV Series), "The Canyon of Heroes", "New Years Eve", "Mister Twister" (Twister Movie), and "The
Fat Burner Spell".
Her regular haunts are the African Poetry Theater, Langston Hughes Cultural Center, the Bay Terrace
Barnes and Noble in Queens, N.Y.
and Open Mike Sunday's at the Queens Central Library in Jamaica NY. Rhonda's also made public
appearances on QPTV sponsored "The John
Baxter Show", "Queens Politics" and "S.Q.P.A.- NY & S.Q.P.A. Beacon School" Kwanzaa Celebrations
2002-2004. Recent 2006 venues include participation in Veterans Day Programs Sponsored by the Rochdale Village Senior Citizens Center
and VFW Post # 5298 (Laurelton, N.Y.); reciting the Poem "The Canyon of Heroes".
Rhonda is among the elite ; spotlighted in the Southeast Queens Press- profile Section (Feb.
23- March 1, 2007) article titled "Poet Dreams of Ticker Tape Honor's" (page # 22) and the VFW Post # 5298
Monthly Newsletter (March, April,& May 2007) issues. The poem has been included in the New
York State Senate Awards Presentation
Ceremony (March 8, 2007) Printed program, sponsored by Senator
Serphin Maltese and Senator Malcom A. Smith., the Laurelton Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony, VFW
Post # 5298 Flag Day Ceremony and Senator Malcom A. Smith's Annual Veteran's Breakfast Event. In addition she desires to see
her poems used in advertising, plays, film and television. Presently she seeks a manager and publicist to promote her career.
