"The Canyon of Heroes" Poem.
It is imperative that the general public be made aware my progress regarding it's promotion.
My primary supporter of this project has been none other than Mr. T.J. Tharpe; The Past Post Commander of VFW Post # 5298
located in Laurelton/ Springfield Gardens NY. In his role; he set up venues for the poem to be read, recommended people
for me to approach and assisted in it's promotion. In addition he has allowed my participation in organized events hosted by
his post. The Southeast Legislators; Congressman Gregory Meeks, State Senator Malcolm A. Smith, Assemblyman William
Scarborough and the City Councilman James Sanders Jr. have done nothing to further my cause. State Senator Shirley Huntley
wrote a letter to The Mayor's Office of Special Events in my behalf and one day before the ticker tape parade for the NY Giants
City Councilman Leroy Comrie's manhattan office made an inquiry which yielded nothing. * However Shea Fink called
stating the program had been shortened due to expected rain. * In addition The Mayor's Office of Special Events Veterans
Breakfast; scheduled for November 11, 2008 is another event I have been excluded from. Maryanne called to say that there
was no room on the program. Other Legislators were contacted such as; Queens Borough President Helen Marshall, Governor
Eliot Spitzer, Lieutenant Governor David Paterson, City Comptroller Bill Thompson, US Senators Charles Schumer, Hillary Rodham
Clinton, Congressmen Charles Rangel, Anthony Weiner, Assemblywoman Audrey Pheffer and City Councilman Joseph P. Addabbo all
of whom did nothing. In addition US Senator Barack Obama was written at his legislative and campaign offices.
* You should see what his campaign office sent me. * Some generic letter they send to all voters soliciting votes.
* The Elmer H. Blackburne Regular Democratic Club; District Leaders Elmer Blackburne and Jacquline Boyce and the Guy R. Brewer
United Democratic Club; District Leaders Archie Spigner and Dora Young did nothing to assist my efforts. Edgar Grove president
of the Elmer H. Blackburne Democratic Club; faxed one letter each to Congressman Charles Rangel and City Comptroller Bill
Thompson. Thompson's office called claiming that they have no influence in such matters.
