Leslie Shafer and her husband, Charlie Williams (aka Studmuffin) have been publishing Bridge Students
'R Us, a bridge student newsletter, for the past six years (since 2000). It appeals to a wide variety
of student skill levels and is available through an annual subscription rate of only $25 per year ($45 for two years). Here
is a complete issue you can view and even print out. You must have acrobat reader to view (a free software - most computers
have it already installed).
If you have taken at least the first three semesters of beginner bridge, you would find our newsletter of benefit.
Although we write for a wide range of skill levels, even the beginner student will understand much of the content. We
suggest you keep them in a binder and then every year, go back and read them again. As your skill level in bridge grows,
you will find the more advanced lessons making more sense later. In other words, the newsletters are "keepers."
Go back every few months, reviewing them for concepts that you missed earlier.

How To Subscribe:
You can pay with your credit card over the internet by using PayPal ( www.paypal.com -- a safe and secure site I've been using for over 10 years now) or you can send a check via regular mail direct to me.
Leslie Shafer, 331 Market Street East #154, Gaithersburg, MD 20878. Make sure your telephone number is on the
check in case I need to reach you.
The Cost:
$25 for one year (6 issues) or $45 for two years (12 issues). Your subscription will start with the currently printed
issue and you will receive your "Welcome Packet" in the mail usually within 1-2 weeks.
How Often Do They Get Published?
We do not follow the calendar, meaning you might get the Jan. issue in March, etc. We guarantee you will get
every issue you pay for, although sometimes you will find that we get behind in our production. We're dancing as
fast as we can on this side. Leslie is a full time bridge teacher with up to 13 classes a week during any semester.
We don't find the time to write untill the semesters are over, usually. Thank you for your patience. We hope you
agree with us that we are worth the wait!
What others are saying about
Bridge Students
‘R Us:
“I can't recommend the Bridge Students ‘R
Us newsletter strongly enough. I'm a beginner-intermediate
player, and every issue brings me new insights and tips for better bridge. More
advanced players tell me they learn a lot from it also. If you've ever taken
a lesson from Leslie, you'll find that the newsletter combines her trademark great sense of humor with her wonderful bridge
teaching skills.” — Scott S., Student, Vermont
"A definite plus for students and teachers alike! Students will
learn more and teachers will appreciate the constructive and entertaining presentation of the material. A welcome addition
to the wonderful world of bridge!” — Pam Schaffer, ABTA Member, Maryland
“I am using some of your
articles for my mini-lessons. I think your magazine is terrific and wholeheartedly
recommend it.” — Sue Kroning, ABTA Member, Washington
“Can't tell you how much
I enjoy your magazine. It’s just loaded with wonderful ideas and tips, not only for the students, but teachers as well.
I'm always looking for new material and ideas for my students and you've given me so many great ideas. (How do you come up
with all these great ideas?) The hands are always good, the tips are excellent,
and I think this is a magazine that teachers can benefit from as well.”
— Ed Layton, ABTA Member, California
“… eight bright, punchy
pages of well-targeted material, newcomers and their teachers would do well to subscribe to it. This is an unfortunate publication in one respect only — not enough people know about it! Rating: A” — Tim Bourke, ACBL Book Reviewer
