I have worked as a therapist and social worker for twenty-two years. I have
helped a wide variety of people face their problems and find solutions that meet an individual’s special circumstances.
My approach to therapy is to provide a safe, non-judgmental and respectful
environment. This approach involves a mutual exploration of important personal life issues. Therapy should be a journey of
self-discovery that leads to a better life.
I have advanced training from the Cleveland Gestalt Institute specializing in the Mind—Body Relationship. In addition I have also completed
professional training for eating disorders, addictions and sexual and physical abuse. I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) and a certified addiction counselor (CAC). Over the years, I have helped hundreds of people regarding a wide array of problems.
Referral Policy
One key challenge of our profession is bringing together various specialist
according to a client's issues and life conditions. I am happy to refer clients "out" to other therapists and
do so regularly. Also, many cases require a group of practitioners of different areas of expertise to coordinate efforts and
share information. For instance, I often refer clients to psychiatrists, dietician's, social service agencies and medical
doctors. Sometimes I place clients to either inpatient or outpatient hospital units or other private service providers.
Feel free to contact me about how I approach these matters.
Events
Usually once per year I offer a group therapy product for eating disorders.
Please contact me about when the next group starts.
Training
For many years now I have offered a one day workshop through the Pitt School
of Socialwork. Topics include eating disorder, Gestalt therapy practice and addictions.
I have offered a half day training on addictions to the Gateway Rehabilitation
Center that was well received.
I have participated in PAAR's speaker series for quite a few years.
I offer trainings for groups of professionals working at various private
and government social service agencies.
Training Approach
Trainings are structured to keep the attention of the audience. A training
is composed of different topic areas, audience participation and excersises. By mixing up the activities that make up a training,
the event is less boring. Often audience feedback has centered on one of these specific "components".
