Television

Grey's Anatomy

These surgical interns seem to be learning about medicine through life...and their lives truly do get mixed up.  Some of it is 'way out there' but most of it is great.
We recently got fios with Verizon and hoped to do their television too. But Cox in the area has they all tied up legally so we went through the summer with nothing - then with bunny ears.  When the 'new television season' was about to begin I told Len, "I don't care what you do, but I WILL BE ABLE TO SEE GREY'S ANATOMY." So we are back with Cox - digitally, this time.

I love to read ... maybe more than I love to eat.  And with the digital cable television and an occasional trip to the Commodore Theatre in Portsmouth I will even chat about movies we have seen.

Books

The Redemption Series
by
Karen Kingsbury

Karen Kingsbury has a way with words - she also writes so powerfully that she can stir my emotions.  I read all she writes, but most recently I have read her Redemption Series.  They are Christian romance about one Family- the Baxters.  The first five are entitled: Redemption, Remember, Return, Rejoice and Reunion.  The next five are  First Born Series are entitled: Fame, Forgiven, Found, Family, Forever.
I think there is another series following these ten books, but I can't find the titles right now.  (when I do, I'll add them here.)
Whatever you do, read them in the order that they were written.
They are in the public library, some of her books are sold in Costco, and you can find them in your local Christian Book store.

Tracie Peterson's Yukon Series is my newest series.  We were in Alaska 2 years ago and were in Skagway and took the White Pass Railroad to the Yukon.  These books are a good read!

Movies

The Guardian
starring Kevin Costner

This was the last movie we saw at the Commodore.  (I sometimes call this my Kevin Costner Theatre!)  The sound system can't be beat, it is an old restored theater where you can sit in comfortable chairs around lovely tables and order great food to eat while you watch the movie.
Anyway, back to The Guardian, intense from the word "Go!" It revealed the training and recovery missions of the United States Coast Guardsmen and Women who jump from helicopters to rescue folks at sea.  I really do recommend this movie.

DeJa Vu
Denzel Washington hasn't failed us yet!  This was a great movie.  It went so fast we felt like we had just settled in and it was over.  Our newspaper says that it is a "See Twice" movie.  I think I might just agree with them (that is rare for me to agree with the newspaper!)
