Triggs Ladies Inner Club Board Meeting

July 10, 2008

 

 

The board of the Triggs Ladies Inner Club met on July 10,2008 at the Triggs clubhouse. Present were Barbara Davis, Denise Turcotte, Claire McCorry, Barbara O’Neil,Geri Lisa,Tracy Higgins, and Sue Vincent. Minutes of June 19th were postponed and treasurer’s report will be emailed. Suggestions for improving the Ladies Member –Guest were to make sure the foursomes finish together and to investigate the possibility of having it on a weekend.

 

In new business, the dates for the club championship qualifying round are July 13 and 19 and August 3 and 9. Each member must choose two dates to play. The two lowest scores in each division will play a match at a mutually convenient time to determine the winner.

 

The mid season get together will be at Claire Mccorry’s house after golf on July 19th. Awards will be presented at the final dinner in October.

 

The Club Challenge will be held August 29th . Carl has agreed to charge $20.00 for golf and cart. We will charge $40 for each member of the four person team. Triggs Ladies will provide a continental breakfast. The entry form will be due August 15th .

 

Upcoming events will be providing breakfast at the men’s member –guest on August 16th and a glow in the dark tournament and pizza sometime in September.

 

The next meeting will be on Thursday, August 14th at 6:30 at the clubhouse.

Triggs Ladies Inner Club Minutes

June 19, 2008

 

The board of the Triggs Ladies Inner Club met at 6:30 on June 19, 2008 at the Triggs Clubhouse. Present were Barbara Davis, Denise Turcotte, Sue Tessier, Judy Gravier, Claire McCorry, Barbara O’Neil, and Geri Lisa.

 

The minutes of May 1 were approved.  Sue Tessier reported that the Ryder Cup tournament was a success and $250.00 was donated to Buttonhole.

 

The major business was finalizing details of the Member-Guest to be held on June 25th.  The format is a two person Margaritaville Shamble with prizes for 1st gross and the first four nets. There will be closest to the pin on all four par threes, one for members, one for guests. There will be one longest drive contest, for member and guest. Handicap will be 85 percent with 32 maximum. The meal is chicken and swordfish and will cost $16.00. The cost of the day is $65 for non pass and $45 for pass players. 68 people will play in the tournament.

 

In other business the board voted to let Molly Fletcher, a young golfer play at inner club events on certain dates. Barara Davis reported that there would be new women’s tees on the sixth and eleventh holes.

 

The next board meeting will be Thursday, July 10th at 6:30 in the trigs clubhouse.

Minutes of the March 20,2008 meeting were approved.

 

Sue Tessier provided a treasurer’s report.

 

The Opening Day Tournament was deemed a success.

 

NATALIE PRICE RYDER CUP TOURNAMENT: June 1, 2008. 8:00A.M. shotgun

 

The cost of the tournament will remain the same as last year: $50.00 for pass players and $85.00 for all others. Barbara Davis will prepare the flyer. The application will be available in the pro shop and on the website. All participants must register and pay by the deadline. The men’s inner club has agreed to contribute $500.00. A contribution to Buttonhole will be made from the proceeds.

March 20, 2008

 

A meeting of the Triggs Ladies Inner Club Board was held on March 20, 2008 in the Cafeteria of Our Lady of Fatima Hospital from 6:30 pm to 7:20 pm.

Barbara Davis called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm. 

 

·                  Minutes

Minutes of the meeting held on February 7, 2008 were approved.

·                  Treasurer’s Report

Sue Tessier provided a Treasurer’s report.

·                  GHIN

Geri attended a GHIN meeting and will be asked to give the Board an update at the next meeting.

·                  Tournament Schedule

Judy has prepared a tournament schedule and will e-mail to Sue Tessier for updating the website.  Judy will prepare sign-up sheets for the first few tournaments.  The mid-season cookout and awards will be scheduled for July 19th.

·                  Opening Day

Barbara will talk to Ann and Luann, Social Committee, about the meal for opening day.  The Board suggested chicken, shells, fries, and salad. Sue will prepare a welcome bag with tees and ball markers to distribute to new members on opening day.  The schedule and local rules will be handed out. Judy will coordinate with Sue to find out who is playing to make the tournament pairings.

·                  Tribute to Muffy Cascione

The Board has decided to name the First Flight of the Club Championship “The Muffy Cascione Memorial Award”.  Muffy passed away recently.  She was a former founding officer of the Triggs Ladies Inner Club and four-time First Flight Champion.

·                  Major Tournaments

The first major is the Nathalie Price Ryder Cup on June 1.  Barbara will talk to Karl about the price so flyers can be prepared for the tournament as soon as possible.  The Board will work toward inviting women from other courses to play to make the tournament a success.

 

 

The Board nominated Claire to run the Member/Guest again this year.  The Board has been asked to think of ideas for a theme and let Claire know.

 

Barbara talked to Yogi about the Team Challenge in August.  This will conflict with the men’s member/guest for food so Barbara will check with Karl for a different date.

 

As agreed to, the Ladies will prepare breakfast for the Men’s August 16th member/guest tournament.

 

·                  Next Meeting

The next Board meeting will be April 20, Opening Day.  The Board will keep in contact and meet before if necessary.

·                  Brochures

Barbara prepared new brochures which are now in the Pro Shop. 

·                  Publicity

Kerrie Bennett sent a press release to Paul Kenyon, Providence Journal.

·                  Pub Links

Barbara noted that there will be a Ladies Division in the Pub Links Championship.  The Board will encourage women to play in this two-day tournament.

 

There being no further discussion, the meeting was adjourned at 7:20 pm.

A meeting of the Triggs Ladies Inner Club Board was held on February 7, 2008 in the Cafeteria of Our Lady of Fatima Hospital from 6:40 pm to 7:20 pm.

·                  Minutes

Minutes of the meeting held on January 17, 2008 were approved.

·                  Treasurer’s Report

No update or activity from last meeting.

·                  2008 Preliminary Tournament Schedule

Barbara Davis reviewed and the Board discussed the preliminary tournament schedule for 2008.   Barbara noted the RIGA PubLinks will be held at Triggs on July 5th and Cranston on July 6th.  The Board will be encouraging participation by Triggs Ladies in this event.  Barbara will discuss dates for the Club Championship with Karl. 

·                  Brochure, Membership Form, and Letter to Members

Barbara distributed drafts of the brochure, membership form, and letter to members which the Board reviewed.  The Board will meet on March 7 from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Barbara O’Neil’s house to complete the annual mailing to members. 

·        Letter to Men’s Inner Club

Barbara distributed a draft letter to the Men’s Inner Club as requested at the last Board meeting.  The Board discussed and approved a letter which requests use of the computer by the ladies for handicap purposes and discusses the annual Nathalie Price Ryder Cup tournament.

·                  Publicity

Barbara distributed a draft e-mail to be sent to Bruce Vittner, Ocean State Golf Magazine, requesting inclusion in the April issue of the magazine.  Also, a similar publicity release will be sent to Paul Kenyon, Providence Journal.

·                  Next Meetings

The Board will meet on March 7 from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Barbara O’Neil’s house to complete the annual mailing to members.  Barbara Davis requested addresses for potential new members for the mailing.

 

Barbara Davis noted the next monthly meeting is scheduled for March 20, at 6:30 pm in the Cafeteria at Fatima Hospital. 

 

The Board thanked Barbara for all her work and there being no further discussion, the meeting was adjourned at 7:20 pm.

Triggs Ladies Inner Club Board Meeting

January 17,2008

 

The board of the Triggs Ladies Inner Club met on January 17th at 6:00 PM in the Fatima Hospital cafeteria. Present were Barbara Davis, Denise Turcotte, Claire McCorry Sue Tessier, Barbara O'Neil, Judy Gravier,and Sue Vincent.  Minutes from the last meeting on December 6,2007 were approved. The treasurer reported a balance of $1,867.42.

 

In new business , Barbara Davis reported that she had met with Karl about the schedule.Major tournament dates are set.

Opening Day,        April 20

Ryder Cup             June 1

Member/Member   June 10

Member/Guest       June 25

Club championship July 19 and August 2

Team Challenge     August 15

End of Season       October 4

 

Barbara will meet with Karl again to firm up other dates during the season, opting to play after the men's league when possible.She and Judy will arrange some travel tournaments.

She has written to the men's club president requesting that the women be able to use the computer for handicap purposes and has asked for financial support for the Natalie Price Ryder Cup.

 

In other business, the board voted to set dues at $150.00 for all members.Dues would automatically include membership in ringer and closest to pin tournaments. An effort should be made to attract new members to the inner club.Barbara will attempt to get some press in the Journal and Ocean State Golf.

 

The next meeting dates are February 7 and March 20 at 6:30 PM in the Fatima cafeteria.
