Welcome to my blog for the 2006-2007 show season for The International Cat Association. Please be advised that the content has not been reviewed or approved by anyone but myself and is in no way an official publication of any cat association.
Contributions are welcome.
I am planning on having guest columns and essays as well.
Feel free to offer commentary on shows you attend.
I can't promise to publish everything though, liability issues, etc.

I am actually home. I just got a new computer so finally get to work on my blog. I will try and recap some of the shows from this summer.
In the meantime, my next show is in Saco Maine.

10/25/06
Maine was interesting. Especially the hotel. During the summer, it would have been great as it was right on the beach. The problem was, armies of ants surrounded the cat food ever time I put a plate down. There must have been 500.

Lat weekend, I was in Jacksonville, Florida. Unlike most people, I love 90 plus degree weather so it was great.

I didn't know that there were so many superstitious people at shows. At the last Florida show, someone took pictures of all the cats in the running for best of the best awards. Apparently, this show, people decided that taking pictures ahead of time could be a jinx so it wasn't done.
I questioned some other exhibitors - some of us do have "lucky teasers" and "lucky cage curtains" etc.

The security system in Jacksonville is very different. Before walking through the magnometer, there is anothe walk-through which sprays some weird substance.

This weekend I was scheduled for Hartford but was way too tired and busy to even think about going to a show.

UPDATE:
11/14/06
Derek went to Lancaster and Long Island and he got enough finals and best cats to supreme although he still needs a few hundred points.

I got some news on Sunday that made me real happy that I show TICA now. Seems a certain CFA exhibitor believed that a New Jersey show was a great place to audition for the Jerry Springer show, except that the audition went unobserved other than by the unfortunate show exhibitors and the police officer called to the scene. Let's hope this exhibitor doesn't take the show on the road.

Westchester next weekend. There is going to be as fashion show and Genghis will be there, in his modeling debut.

11/26/06
Westchester recap: Genghis was in the fashion show on Saturday and Noel (for those of you who don't know his "call name") was in the fashion show on Sunday.  Derek finished his supreme and was second highest scoring cat in show.
We are going to have a fashion show at Central Jersey so let me know if any of you reading this are interested in having your cats participate. Yes, that means you, Frances.
The Jerry Springer show participant did not bring her show on the road. I am going to post some comments from the other participants as soon as I receive them.(Not to worry, I don't think she reads this blog)

I was in Court on Wednesday and the attorney on the other side mentioned that he had actually been at the Westchester show. I am not sure how we missed each other.

I wasn't able to make it to Houston this weekend as I have too much work to do on a federal case. At least I am long past the point of even thinking that I am ever going to get any work done at a cat show.
Back when I was in graduate school, I used to think this was a possibility. I think in all the time that I have shown cats (18 years) and either gone to school or work, that I have gotten a grand total of 6 hours worth of work done at a show. Not good odds.

At last. My own show (Central Jersey) is a thing of the past.
Everything went okay except for the hotel's usual attempts at overgenerous billing in their favor. Last minute attempts to add $4000 to the bill and an incorrect debit of $2100 being billed to the club's debit card. They just can't help themselves.
It's a good thing that (hallellulah) we actually made money this year.

Most of the judges were delayed because of "weather" (not sure what this means or which State was to blame). Saturday, the temperature hit about 70 in New Jersey.

At present, I am trying to keep my own cats in one piece to show them. As soon as I separate 2 dueling players, someone else starts fighting. Could it be because I have exposed them to the WWE on television?  They weren't even anywhere near that CFA show to have been influenced.

Next weekend Karousel (Reading)
I am going to try and talk someone else into contributing.

6/10/07
Not a very successful blog at all.  I guess consistently updating my blog is not one of my talents.
I will try again next season.
Derek did better than I did, however, and it appears that he will receive 2 International awards, 8th Best Kitten and 17th Best Shorthair Cat.
