When teen sex comedy was an art form...
Sure, 'Superbad' tries to impress us with it's potty mouth, but there were many a giant shoulder on which it stood... 'Snowballed,' anyone? Anyone? Some some of these aren't technically 'teen' films (though I spent many a night trying to watch them through scrambled cinemax boxes), but a lot of them should not be called comedies, either.

Go-Bot Nation
With all the attention focused on the Transformers, I thought it is only appropriate to pay homage to their fellow morphing robotic bretheren. Take a look into the world of the Go-Bots and even lesser forms of merchandising that cashed in on the Transformers' success.

Rollin' in the D'oh!
It is impossible to select just one. After 20 years, and contributing so much to my life, there would never be enough memory space to catalogue my love for all things Simpsons. But here is, at least, a start.

Just a little film society (about 1,500 members) and festival (about 100 films) that boasts a nationally recognized film festival and year-round yummy things...

These are the wonderful people who pay my way into the movies each and every week to help feed my addiction. Some may call them enablers, I call them friends...www.capegazette.com

I think it was Olivia Newton John who once said "Let's Get Political." Smart woman... so ahead of her time, even in those pastel leotards. Anywho, if you are interested in "Political and local commentary on an eclectic mix of subjects, centering on southern Delaware," ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Fritz Schrank and Sneaking Suspicions.

Long live the King
Stephen King may be getting a lot of credit for the film "1408," which was based on a short story of his, but in his lifetime, he has been the victim of many a crap-tastic film version of his works. Here are some of the best of the worst that I could find:
Maximum Overdrive (his directorial debut!)
Desciples of the Crow (short film based on 'Children of the Corn)

man it was great growing up in the 80s!
OK, so really, it sucked. All those cheaply made exploitative horror films that you got to see late night on HBO (when they had that channel box on a string, and the little knob to adjust the picture) were so horrendously awful, but they always held the promise of blood and boobies. It was always a monumental accomplishment of cool to witness these, as the internet's promise of porn was still years in the future.

Here are some trailers of those carefree days where even the geekiest kid with a cable scrambler was still the most popular on the block. WARNING:Some are not safe for work or children!!

Not-so-super heroes
Yes, 'Spiderman 3' sucked major web, but it is far from the worst comic book adaptation out there. There are far more tights-clad crimefighters that should have hung up the codpiece long ago. Here are just a few:
  • Superman 3: Hey! Let's get Richard Pryor and neuter him! When Christopher Reeve gets more laughs than the comedian, you know you're in trouble. Here's yet another clip.
  • Steel: Shaq had more thrilling battles with teammate Kobe Bryant than the bad guys here.
  • Superman 4: The Quest for Peace: The death knell for the original franchise had Reeve taking on the Nuclear Arms Race.
  • Thomas Hayden Church plays The Sandman in the most recent Spiderman, but that was not his first forray into the world of superheroes. He also starred in the little-seen (for good reason) The Specials.
  • A special place in hell awaits all involved with the television movie Captain America, if it were not for the undeniably awful...
  • Fantastic Four film released in 1994. I could not contain my giddy excitement for this cinematic excrement, so here are a few more clips...
  • Fantastic Four, clip 2
  • Fastastic Four, clip 3

Why is Ricky Gervais the funniest man on the planet?
If you've somehow missed The orginal Office, or Extras season 1, I will give you a moment to put them on your Netflix queue. And to answer the titular question, oh, I don't know, what about this, or this, or this, or this, or this, or this....
