There are 4 major stages of the Ullman process:
In Stage 1 of
an Ullman group, a volunteer shares a dream. Then, the other group members, called
"co-dreamers," ask
questions to clarify the details of the dream, such as if the people in the dream are known to the dreamer in waking
life.
Stage 2 is what Ullman refers to as “playing the game,” in which the co-dreamers pretend
that they had the dream. With the dreamer remaining silent, the co-dreamers say what their feelings would be and
what the imagery in the dream may be trying to tell them if it were their own dream.

Stage 3 encourages dialogue between
the dreamer and co-dreamers.
Finally, Stage
4 takes place at the beginning of the next dream group meeting. The dreamer is invited to share any comments or additional
insights that have arisen since the previous meeting.
