Matthews Tourettes  began immediately after I used lindane on him for head lice.  He now has a lifelong reaction to any toxin/pesticide he is exposed to. He had a tetanus booster shot and his Tics exploded. He also developed a rash on his neck.

For any mother or grandmother please go to your local library or buy this informative book on vaccines. "The Vaccine Guide" by Randall Neustaedter OMD.

When Matt was a baby he had his MMR vaccine and  within two weeks was in the Emergency Room with a high fever 106 and was put into a tub with ice to lower his temp. He developed the measles rash from head to toe.

This is not the "usual" reaction parents are told about when their child is vaccinated. Though we are advised that our children might get a local reaction or a fever we are never really told why children get reactions and from what.

When my children were small I followed doctors advice regarding what they said my children needed, not only vaccines but medications.

We can not afford to blindly follow any longer. We must read up on any medication and vaccine and make informed, educated choices. As parents we all have the right to refuse anything we feel may harm our children.

I am not saying all vaccines are harmful, but with the number given to children by age 4 (at least twenty) we really have to question why so many.  I never knew that when there is an outbreak of measles in the US the people affected are usually the ones that had the vaccine.

And the Hep B shots that are started on infants right from birth, well Hepatitis B is usually aquired from dirty drug needles, sex or a mother with the disease. And the Hep B shots do not offer lifelong protection.

Definition of Tourette's-Tourette Syndrome is an inherited neurological disorder characterized by repeated involuntary movements and uncontrollable vocal sounds (tics). The symptoms of tourette syndrome generally appear before the individual is 18 years old. The first symptoms of tourette syndrome are usually facial tics, commonly eye blinking. With time, other motor tics may appear, such as head jerking, neck stretching, foot stamping, or body twisting and bending. Tourette syndrome is diagnosed by observing the symptoms and evaluating family history.

My son Matthew was officially diagnosed with Tourettes when he was 8 years old. His tics began after I used Lindane on him, click on the link below to read how this all started.

Though Matthew loves just about all sports, he does not participate in any. It saddens me that when he comes home from school that he either just plays video games or watches TV. I do play Yu Gi Oh with him and his brother, but he has no outside activities, which is very unhealthy for anyone.

I know that the Tourettes is only a part of whats going on, I know he is anxious about alot of things, just wish I knew what to do to help.

Right now am in the process of trying to get an IEP through special ed. This was something I should have done long ago, but I didn't think he needed it.

Its tough dealing with school personnel who feel that because Matt is quiet and not a discipline problem, that he is doing fine, even though he is failing one subject and almost failing another.

Some teachers and others that have seen Matt at school think because they do not see him ticcing, that the tourette's is not affecting him. I try to explain that he does supress his tics when he can, but this comes at a price. It drains him physically and emotionally.

Now he also has a diagnosis of PANDA, which means when he has strep his tics and obsessions get dramatically worse. I didn't even know he had strep, he had no symptoms, but his pediatrician did a strep test that came out positive and he had to be put on an antibiotic.

Now Matt's hands are peeling which is something totally new.
