Indian______
Anant said Indian today. Anant had a strange mixture of foods for Lunch today; PB and J, yogurt, cheese and crackers (Rob's) and Indian food (mine). He said the word Indian for the first time (per my recollection). He kept asking for more Indian food. I told him he is an Indian boy (Indian-American) and we listened to Indian music in the car tonight. Its cute.
We've been working on adjectives (per the instructions of our early intervention workers). Talking about colors, sizes, etc.
We made cookies today. Anant remembered that Auntie Neha made them the other night.
Anant continues to be a great helper. Helped me clean the floor today. Tonight at our small group meeting he happily threw away trash and put dishes in the sink. He wanted to clean the kitchen table today (I let him do it after I did). I hope this continues for the next 15 or so years!
Took a couple of pics of Anant in a cute outfit RoseMarie gave us. Check them out.

Busy Day
Anant had a busy day today. This morning he went to Nathaniel's house. He had fun with all his friends. Sammy was there. Anant and Sammy took turns going under the water and getting upset. But they were ok and got back into the pool. If it were me I wouldnt've gotten back in the pool. He was so excited to see everybody. I told him about 15 minutes before we left and he was saying "Nuh house" over and over. Got some pics of the 3 boys, tough to get 3-2 year olds to sit at the same time. You'll see how successful we were...
Anant had a decent nap about an hour and a half. Then Kayla, Annabell and Joey came over. They played well in the pool and playhouse together. Got a few pictures of them as well.
We were happy for Rob to come home and have Dinner together and play. We had fun playing together.

Happy to be home with our boy today. I did miss him the past 3 days. But it was good. I work next week with the regional dietitian with the company I'm working for to learn specifically about the job that I will be doing. Really looking forward to this.
Anant did miss his Dad today. He was saying "Dadda home" over and over. Even when I would "correct" him and say "Dadda work" he would say again "Dadda home". I then would say "oh, you want Dadda to come home". He played in his pool today and happily dumped cold water over my head and squirted my back with the cold hose water. He does enjoy the water. Still lurking for a sandbox.
Anant didn't have a great nap today. About an hour. So later in the evening he was throwing more tantrums than usual. He was tired. He told us "teeth" and did his brushing his teeth sign right after we got back from a walk at 7:45pm. On the walk he was so quiet, not like usual.
All in all though. Most days things seem to have gotten better. Like he understands the boundaries now and for the most part follows them or understands "no". This is a blessing. I'm still the good cop and Rob the bad cop.
Well, better go.
Talk to you all soon.

Day 3 Done
I'm exhausted after these 3 days of training. Anant did start to miss his Momma today. He started saying Momma home. And he really didn't like it when Rob pulled him out of the study so I could check my e-mail in peace sometime after work. We went to "Auntie Neha's" house for Dinner tongiht. Great time. Thanks Neha. Anant is exploding with vocabulary and repeating everything. He was saying "Auntnie" when referring to Neha. He enjoyed seeing Rebeccah's ferret.
Well better go, I'm tired.

New Job
Its been a busy 2 days with training for the new job and continuing the Mommy job (my favorite job). Anant is not having a hard time at all being away from Mommy. He is having a good time with Daddy going to the library to see the zoo animals (apparently there was 2 insects and a hedge hog). Dad has brought out some new books and this has been good for Anant. I think he was bored with the ones we had out. Remember I had paired them down to the most simple ones due to the lack of language comprehension skills. Yay Daddy! Its good to have different caregivers for this reason I think. Good for Daddy to be home with Anant one day a week at least (that is the way it will end up when Rob's 2 day a week leave of absence is over sometime in August. Rob is also getting Anant to try new things and new ways of doing things. They went to a park today and Daddy challenged Anant with the playground equipment and Anant did very well and is mastering new things like the bent over ladder.
Anant was very concerned tonight right before he went to bed. His concern: "J.J. boo-boo...J.J. boo-boo...J.J. boo-boo etc, etc, etc". Can you guess what happened? Yes, J.J. fell while running and got a boo boo. Anant was very concerned. Its a blessing to see how caring he is. What a sweetie.
Anant has also played with Hannah, Natalie and Reina the past few days. He is now starting to get names and things with 2 syllables instead of just picking the one he thinks is easy to say or just sticks with him (not sure how he figured it out-although I guess usually it was the first syllable although with Cianna it was the end "anna"). He is now saying Derby, Natalie (yes, that's 3 syllables). Its so neat to see how he is improving upon what he already knows.
Well, gotta get ready for another day of training. Todays was more interesting as it focused on the dialysis treatment itself and its history over the years. Amazing I tell you. I will be working at a dialysis center as a renal (kidney) dietitian. I'm very excited. Although concerned they may find me out cold on the floor because I don't like blood. It is a bloody business. I will/must get used to it. I was reminded today of my Dad's brother Jim who died after a kidney transplant years ago as they talked of the different modes of treatment. One being hemodyalysis (the one where the machine takes the impurities out of your blood because your kidneys can't), one transplantation, peritoneal dialysis (fluid goes into your abdominal cavity and the impurities go into the fluid then the fluid is drained) or no treatment at all (eventual death). This is a whole new area of expertise that I don't know much about. I trust that God will give me what I need to do this job. I don't deny that I am nervous. The trainer today said that she could tell that I will do well because of what she has seen of me in the training. This was encouraging! Praise God for providing this flexible job and one that I will be challenged and learning a new skill. I will also be doing consulting for a friend of mine who works in long term care. Working on projects as I have time. This will help us financially. What more could I as the Lord for. He has done so much for us. We don't know the future. We just praise him for today.

Took a blogger day off yesterday. We did have a good day. Anant and I cleaned the floor in the kitchen (ahhhh it looks so good, feels great to have that at least clean!). Went to the Glenside Farmer's Market for the story time at 10am. It was fun. Anant isn't able to sit for much of the story but he did enjoy the worm painting. A gentleman there brought the worms and put them in paint (don't worry he says it doesn't hurt them) and then we picked them up and put them on the paper. You'll see a pic of Anant's paper on our Flickr site. And, yes, I did pick up worms without screaming. Aren't you all proud of me. Later that day we got the pool out and "swam" and played. Nice to cool off and have fun together. Then later Anant played with Reina. Its always nice to play with her. She is a great kid.
Today we went out for the first time without our boy. I did ok (I know you all were worried about me). Nana said that Anant cried for about five minutes when he realized that we were not here and then he played with Nana in the pool and got a snack with Nana. For the rest of the evening after we got home we heard about what he did with Nana. Ate applesauce and crackers and played in the pool. He repeated it over and over like he usually does with the usual list of names of children and people who may have had applesauce or crackers or played in the pool. He talked during our whole walk later tonight. So cute this chattery little boy.
Well, gotta get up early tomorrow to go to work. Dadda will be with Anant for 3 days while Momma is in training for her new job!

Anant's First Hair Cut
You'll see before and after of Anant and Mom's hair today. We managed to get both our hair cut today. Anant was a really good sport about it. It helped that Auntie Sue's son and cousins were there to entertain Anant while I got my hair cut.
This is cute. Today Anant was asking me for a tissue for his nose in the car. He then showed me his finger and said "Anant got it". Funny boy.
Yesterday Anant's friend Cianna came over with her Mom Holly. Cianna and Anant simply love each other. Anant becomes so animated when he is with her. She has so much energy.
Looking forward to the weekend with all of us together.

Three Word Phrases We Love
Anant has been practicing his 3 word phrases with Daddy. He has come up with "I love Momma" and "I love Dadda". Of course we couldn't be more happy with these phrases. And, it seems that Anant understands part of the sentiment because kisses and hugs accompany these words. When I'm holding him he has been saying "Momma, Momma" very sweetly like he's saying "your my Momma". This is a very sweet boy and a true blessing from our Father. I don't think we expected all of this to go so well. Not that things haven't been hard. It has been hard to get used to (not sure I'm used to this yet after 13 years of working FT) being a FT Mom. Of course all of us Mom's are FT Moms even if we are working. Being a parent is a FT job 24/7.
I wrote a letter to Anant's orphanage yesterday telling them of his interests and how well he is doing along with maybe 6 or 7 pictures. Thanking them for their care which helped to bring this boy up to do so well. We know they love him. So this week was a week of reports and such. CARA report is out, our second post placement report is out with pictures and a note to BSSK with pictures. Whew! The CARA reports will go on until 2013 I believe. I just put them all into my calendar. They really are no big deal and are not hard to do just take remembering to do them!
Going to go and try and do some things before Anant wakes up.

Fast Learner
We had the speech therapist from the Early Intervention program come yesterday. She was very impresssed with Anant's progress. Not sure that we can take any credit for this. She did say that letting him experience and investigate is what is good and she thinks we have done that. As evidenced by our last meeting of smelling the spices. She feels that he is at in the mid to upper range of his American 2 year old peers with his language. He is really putting words together. Poor Dad had to hear "Momma home" a million times last night. How's that for communication (I was at a meeting). We were so happy to hear this. We thought he was doing well with language but its always good to hear it from the professional.
Anant played in the pool at Annabelle's house yesterday and they fought over the sieve, boat and cups in the pool. We tried to head things off by running for more toys when we saw trouble brewing.
Today he went to the mall for a book reading, craft and music. Guess which one he seemed to love the most? He looked at me after a few of the songs and signed "more". I told him to tell the lady. He proceded to go up to the musician to tell her he wanted more. When he got there he tried to play her guitar. He danced around. He loves to run around with Joey and do what his older friend Joey does. Its cute.
He's down for a nap so I think he was worn out.

Camping/Father's Day
Justs got back from camping with two families we know very well. We were all single together at church and paired off. All have ~2 year old boys. Who would have known that we would have a child the same age as our friends. There was a time I felt left out like everyone was moving on without me but God knew. How special this is to us. It was a great time together. The beach/lake was awesome. Anant really enjoyed playing there in the sand and in the water. Two of his favorite things to play in. We were at Wharton State Park in the pine barrens. We had a lot of tick issues. There was one on me and Rob ended up with 3 and Maddie had one. The ticks were bad. I spotted one on Anant's hair before it got him (so glad!).
Anant did very well. He slept both nights. Definately knew he was in another place besides his home. He did cry more than usual upon going to bed but seemed to sleep ok. Rob and I didn't sleep great though. Probably will turn in early tonight.
The boys fought over toys pretty often. But they still show that they like each other.
Anant was saying everyone's name today. He says things like Momma bath, Nathaniel bath, Dadda bath, Lydia (sounds like the second syllable only). We went to get ice cream for Father's day. When we told Anant we were going out for ice cream he remembered the time we went with Grandma Kris. He was so excited to go. He talked about it the whole way to Baskin Robbins. He would say Nathaniel cream, Lydia cream, Dadda cream, Momma cream, etc. I think he just likes to talk. He is always chattering.
Wanted to say here how much I appreciate Rob. He is a wonderful Husband and Father and Anant and I love him very much.

Workin' Boy
Anant was busy again today. We went together to get the oil changed. Anant was good. While I was paying he was looking at his Good Dog Carl book. The one where the Mom leaves, and the dog and the baby get into trouble all over the house and Carl cleans everything up before Mom gets home. (Thanks Miska/Luke!) He was talking through it (there are no words so we make them up).
Then we went to "Nuh's" house for some water play. Anant was very busy. He found a cleaning brush and would dunk it in the pool and then scrub a plastic chair. Then scooping water out of the pool and making a puddle under a swing. Later tonight he was mowing the lawn with his little toy mower then raking (didn't actually get a pic of that-I wasn't quick enough). He got a playhouse (thanks for looking out Nancy and bringing it to our house too!!!) and really liked the phone in it. I like the playhouse, the colors are nice, natural not primary.
Anant still likes to be held a lot. We missed 2 years so we hold him (as long as he is saying please and we are able to). The social worker says that its good to hold them.
Anant and Nathaniel played together pretty well today. When one would do something the other would want to do the same thing. Parallel play. Anant will not usually play by himself much at home but when he is with other children even though he might not be playing "with" them he doesn't need me to play with him. Although he will notice me now and then and want me to come over. He has a lot of projects. Another project he had today was putting water in Nuh's car outside. Then pushing the car over to get the water out, and doing it again. He's seen us get the water out of his car here at home this way. He did a puzzle very well today with a little help. Neat to see him showing interest in things he hasn't before. We do have to model things for him to get him to play with certain things and to know how to do it. He does really well with this. The teacher who came yesterday suggested this strategy. Instead of giving up on the activity trying to put our hand over his to show him how to do the task.
Talk to you all soon. I'm tired. Check out the pics from today.

Busy Boy
We had a busy day. A good day. Walked this morning with Derby. Our usual walking route was blocked by downed wires from last night's storm. Many people still don't have power. Including Anant's teacher. We tried to take a detour but were blocked again by more downed wires. It was good anyhow because we needed to get ready to go to the smith playhouse in Philly. We did the storytime there. Anant made it through the song and part of one book. He is learning the English language quickly so I think someday soon books will interest him more. He does really well with the ones that we have at home that are very simple. He knows Moo Baa La La La pretty well. We can recite the book to him and leave things out and he will fill it in. So cute. We went on the slide which is so fast and steep. Anant wanted to go by himself. I let him. The first time he stopped himself. The second time he fell forward and got a little bloody lip. Seems ok. Maybe we wont let him do that again without me. Even if he fusses. He is very independent.
Nap was a bad scene. Of course after playing so hard (I had him walk up the slide ramp and its pretty long) he fell asleep in the car quickly. He slept for maybe 40 minutes and then woke up when we got home. I did his normal routine with going down for his nap and he seemed to go down well but he really didn't sleep. He fussed a lot and talked a lot then just plain cried for me. It was a lost cause. So I just got him up. He didn't seem the worst for it. Actually I didn't get the after the nap grumpies today. He was more awake and happy for the teacher's visit. Although he still is resistant to her wanting me to do everything with him.
We saw Reina and J.J. and Natalie for a while. Our neighbor is having a yard sale on Saturday. We bought Anant a little sponge bob camping chair. Its so cute. And we got him a beach chair too. Both for 2.50. Awesome. The camp chair will really come in handy for this weekend's camping trip!
We had Dinner (Anant was really hungry because he would not really eat his Breakfast he was having tantrums????) then back outside for some bubbles. J.J. and Reina came over. Anant was fooling around with ants and got a few too many on his hand and was freaked out. I would too. J.J. likes to kill ants. The children pushed Anant in his car for a while (backwards because if you push him forwards his feet get stuck under the car and its a bad scene).
Tomorrow should be a mellow day. We need to get the Rav serviced so Anant will be going with me for that.
I would imagine that Anant will sleep in tomorrow morning with not having a great nap today and being so busy.

Very Sweet Boy
Anant is very sweet. Today I was crying and he was so worried. I don't think he knew what to do. The stress of all the changes has caught up with me and I kind of let it out. Anant sat in my lap and looked like he would cry himself. Rob told him to hug me and he did. For hours later he would do his little crying sign (rubbing his eyes) and saying "Momma cry". I see this as an excellent sign of attachment to us and lack of attachment issues (some children have no ability to have sympathy). This little boy is such a blessing.
He is really talking so much. Making 3 word sentences now. I can't kee up with the words anymore they are pouring out.
Anant loves a little girl who we see at the church on Tuesday nights. She seems to love him too. She has so much more energy to play with him and she keeps his attention. We took them out on the playground to play in the sand and on the equipment. The heat was still with us but better and there was a gentle breeze. Love that sandbox! Just putting your feet in it is so relaxing. Anant was entertaining everyone at the food cupboard by putting his diaper bag (which Aunt Deborah gave us for Christmas-Thanks Deborah!) over his head and playing peek a boo with everyone. The bag looks like a shopping bag and has very small holes in it.
I completed our first CARA report to report a 4 centimeter height increase and a small increase in Anant's weight. Not concerned and happy about the height increase! He has me check his height every day before his nap. He stands against his board where we chart his height (another gift from one of my co-workers Carole-thanks Carol it looks great in his room!). He says "Bible" because Daddy uses his Bible book to put on his head to see where his height falls on the chart. Then he has me measure Curious George (a large one from Ali) who changes every day depending on how Anant holds him.
I have a picture today of Anant in a new outfit from his Aunt Connie and Uncle Bob in MN. It is so cute. He looks adorable in it.
We had terrible storms tonight which should cause the heat to break. Its been unbearable. There was rain and hail and strong winds. A tree came down up the street (looks like it didn't damage anything but came down in the street). I was in the grocery store when the storm hit. No wonder it was so loud, there was hail. The grocery store employees were really bored as the lights had gone out in the store and all the customers had left.
I bought stuff for a camping trip this weekend. A little apprehensive about how Anant will do sleeping and such, but he will be with "Nah" and Sammy so he should be fine.
Better go to bed, its late.

Monday, June 9, 2008

Anant had fun playing at the place we went to today with Joey and Annabell (check out the pics). He fell asleep in the car (got a pic of this too). Not good. When I put him in his bed he cried so I picked him up and sang to him for a little bit. Then put him to bed. He talked and whined and cried off and on for about 40 minutes. I went back up and rocked and sang a little more. Then he was really crying when I put him in bed. But this time he did fall asleep for about an hour.
Anant got really cranky when he was eating his snack. We did go in the baby pool for a little while as a diversion. We had to put some cold water in it since the water got so hot in the sun and the heat today.
Rob had to work until about 7pm bleh! We look forward to Dad coming home and its hard when its late. After Dinner Anant was much better and we read and blew bubbles. Anant ate some of my leftovers for Dinner with me tonight from the Cheesecake factory on Saturday with Nana. Still benefiting from that kind outing Mom. Thank you so much. It was nice to spend time with you. Anant liked it too. He asked for more. It was a Thai dish (Bang Bang Chicken and Shrimp). First time I've given him shrimp. I'm impressed.
Talk to you all later.

Sunday, June 8, 2008

Anant slept in today until 7:30 (one hour later). He seemed cheery. He enjoyed the nursery at church.
He can be a snuggly boy. Laying his head against my cheek or chest. Of course I eat this up.
Anant wanted to go and see J.J. So we went to their house and rang the doorbell. Won't do that again. We woke up poor Rob (Reina and J.J.'s Dad). He is a pastor and had a tough day. Oops. I felt bad for Reina. She is so sweet to him and today he refused to give her a hug. He was kind of obsessed with J.J.
Today was record heat in our area of the country. I broke down and went out to buy a little pool and swim diapers with some gift cards we have been given at Toys R Us. Well, its not so little. But its shallow. Kind of cute. A blow up pool. Anant loved it, he laughed so much. Check out the pics. The water was quite cold today but we still had a good time. The mosquitoes are out in full swing too as Rob and I got eaten up. Anant didn't seem to get bits so this is a good sign. I guess they like us better. Still working on getting a sandbox.
Auntie Neha paid us a surprise visit. A pleasant surprise.
Talk to you all soon.

Saturday, June 7, 2008

Forgot to tell you all about my exciting morning yesterday. My friend Susan calls this "Mommy brain". Totally forgot. Just mentioned a walk. I heard yelling by the nursing home where the creek is. I heard a man saying he's by the creek. I hauled it around and went the other way assuming the worst about the situation. Wondering if there was a convict running from the police or someone else. Of course someone's dog could have gotten away or a nursing home resident eloped. A few minutes later I heard a siren and a police car came by with its siren turned off as it approached and turned into the nursing home. Couldn't find anything in the newspaper about it though.
This morning I went to our women's prayer meeting for the first time since we've been back with Anant. It was good for my soul. The women there knew exactly what to pray for me about. It brought tears to my eyes that they would pray this way. It was good to call on the Lord together in our weakness. He is strong.
Rob and I managed to get a little bit of cleaning/home projects done today. Rob is replacing the seal around the bathtub. I was finally able to clean the kitchen floor which stays clean for about 2 hours until Lunch. But it still looks so much better. Rob vacuumed the living room. Feels good to get a little bit of control over our home. Anant cheered for Rob when he was done withthe vacuuming. He seemed to want me to vacuum as well. I didn't want to after cleaning the kitchen floor.
It was a scortcher today outside. Humid and very hot.
Nana came to visit today. I got a needed outing to the Cheesecake Factory with her. Anant got to play with her too.
Tonight we went to Auntie Judy's house for Dinner and we enjoyed the visit. Anant had gotten into the paper recycle and there was a picture of a very beautiful bride on an envelope. I asked Anant who she was he said "Momma" (what a sweet boy). Also, our friend Heidi sent us a postcard with a picture of an Indian child. I showed it to Anant and asked him who it was. He said "Ana" (Anant). He's too cute. The child did look a little like him.
One of the neighborhood children offered last weekend to give his favorite childhood toy to Anant. So sweet. It was a toy lawn mower. It looks so real. Anant really liked it. Especially chasing us around the room with it. His laugh is so cute. I love to hear him laugh. He would get frustrated with the lawn mower. Nana thought that maybe he didn't like that it didn't make noise constantly like a real mower. You can pull a string (like a real mower) and it makes a noise. He also got mad when it would get stuck on things. Then he would come over to me and try to hit me. Not sure what's going on. Although he didn't get a full night's sleep last night because we got home late, naptime wasn't long enough either. Tonight he went to bed late too. So, we'll hope he is able to sleep in tomorrow morning or we will really be in trouble as Sundays he is off his usual schedule too and goes down late for nap.
Today Derby jumped up onto our bed this morning. This seems like progress with his antibiotics on the Lyme. I'm hopefull.
Well, better go. I'm exhausted.
Got some new pics from today. Anant is wearing a cute outfit from Aunt Connie and Uncle Bob.

Went out for a walk this morning then Anant took a bath. It was easy getting him out of the bath when I told him we were going to Nathaniel's house! He started packing up his bath toys and told me to turn the water off. Only I think I said it too early because I had to hear "Nah", "Nah", "Nah" etc for the next 1/2 hour. Notes to self.
Kala and Binu came to Nathaniel's house. You'll see pics of them. They all had fun playing (not necessarily together but side by side). Anant and Nathaniel were really tired (they tired each other out) and went down for naps very quickly. Anant almost fell asleep before he ate.
When he got up he was grumpy. Tried to give him peaches for his snack and he was not happy. I think it was the skin on the peach? I made the bad habit of cutting his fruits into small pieces and now he says "cut" "cut" when the piece is too large for his liking.
Cooked Mataar Paneer for Dinner. Anant was doing well. He got to push the button on the food processor. He smelled the onions, every spice. When I would let him smell it he would say "Momma" (meaning Momma smell it), then "Dadda" (Dadda smell it) and we would pretend that Daddy did smell it by holding the spice and pointing it towards the window and making a noise like we were sniffing.
Anant is afraid of machines that make loud noises. The pump that fills the airbed, the lawn mower, small food chopper. He comes crying to us for comfort. I guess he hasn't heard/seen things like this in his life.
Anant was tired tonight too after our small group meeting. Not a peep going to bed. I'm headed there now.

We went to visit Peggy our friend from church who is leaving for Ohio tomorrow. Got a few pics of Anant with her.
Rob was home with us untill around 11:30am and he unclogged the gutters. Anant cheered for him unprompted. He's so sweet like this. Congratulating us and himself when we/he does something.
Anant's new thing is putting his small bubble wand in the gallon bubble jug (not very easy to get out but I've done it 5 times today-arg!).
He's still getting frustrated easily and irratable. Especially after his afternoon nap. Doesn't help that the UPS man came and Derby barked like there was a robber in the house.
We went to Amy's house so Anant could play with his girlfriend Sophie. After Anant played for a little while with the kids on our street. Anant and Sophie always wanted the same toy. Anant really liked the little stroller but would get frustrated when he would get stuck or it would collapse. Had to help him a little. Got a few pics of him with Sophie.
Rob had made a tent in the basement with a blanket which Anant really enjoys.
Anant played with Reina for a little while before Anant had to go to bed. They were looking under our rocks for bugs. They were playing with a millipede. They wanted me to hold it. I did briefly trying not to scream and freak out!!! Anant was playing with pill bugs too. Maybe he will get over what I've taught him yet.
Anant knows the drill with his diaper rash cream. He tells me to put it on and to put it up on the dresser when I'm done.
I worked on our CARA Report today for the Indian Government. Not very hard but I do have a question I will have to ask.
Talk to you all later.

Diaper rash looks gone but we are still using the triple paste. Nana called today and said that diaper rash is common with teething. After reading about teething on webmd just now I wonder if that is the cause of the excessive irritability as well. We did see him chewing on a plastic container on Sunday (also a sign of teething).
We were able to get out to play some today in between the rain drops. Anant still loves his bubbles. Often saying "out" "bubbles". We went out to get some pictures for our post placement report to go out soon. I also put some pics of friends and family in a photo book so Anant can look at them. He really loves looking at pics of family and friends. And will ask to see them. I have to work on the report for CARA (Cenral Adoption Resource Agency-the Indian agency overseeing adoption in India, they issue the NOC-No Objection Certificate). Its due in June. That's now!
Derby needs to be protected from Anant not vice versa. Anant would step on Derby easily not intentionally. He still kisses Derby. Today when Rob came home from work Anant wanted him to kiss me and say hi to Derby.
Derby is no longer vomiting after his antibiotic. We are relieved. We also don't exercise Derby after he takes the pills for a walk or playing. We did fit in a walk today with Anant saying "home" soon after we left. I think he likes to be home. Last Friday when we went to the city on the way home instead of turning where I usually do to go to our house I took a slightly different way and Anant really started to cry thinking that he wasn't going home. I think its neat that he knows his way home.
Tonight when it was raining so hard Anant went to the window and said over and over "big water", "big water". It was so cute. There was a big puddle outside of the door.
Well, better go.

Anant has his first diaper rash. Maybe this is why he has been fussy. Poor boy was really crying when I changed his diaper tonight. But he went right down to bed after we put the cream on without a peep. I think he finally had some relief.
We went to the mall this morning. They have a morning club 2 times a month. July 1 it will be a reptile show. Today Auntie Ann's pretzels had them making pretzels with their dough at little tables. It was something else to do, somewhere else to go and try. We got free pretzels out of it too. Chris, Annabell, Baby Rosie, Anant and I then ate our lunches in the food court. There was an older man saying hi to the kids and Annabell said "this is my friend Anant". It was so cute.
Awefully tired tonght. Going to bed. Talk to you all soon.

Anant woke up in fairly good spirits today. He got frustrated with the gritts I made him because they were too thick. Don't remember something like this frustrating him before. He does seem to get frustrated the past few days easily. Not sure why. We went on our walk (sadly without Derby-he is having vomiting issues with his antibiotic so we have been decreasing his activities as they seem to help set it off). We saw puppies in someone's front yard. The man was waiting with his 2 daughters on the front lawn with the pups. I knew of this family from another friend and met the Mother once. I happened to find out that the Mom lived in India (Calcutta, now Kolkata) for 10 years of her life and was a sponsored child by a family here in the US. At 20 years of age the family brought her here. Her parents were both Chinese. Interesting. Of course Anant LOVED the puppies. As usual I tried to protect the animals from Anant (just like we have to do for poor Derby). He's 2 he doesn't mean to do anything, most of the time.
We went to Alverthorpe park and used our new sand toys. We met Auntie Chris, Baby Rose and Annabell. You'll see a pic of Annabell and Anant in the sandbox. Anant was hard at work with his work face on. He was taking a scoop of sand and putting it on the edge of the sandbox and doing this the length of the sandbox. He fell asleep in the car on the way home (mistake!). So it took about an hour to get him settled into a nap and then he only slept for an hour. He didn't seem the worse for it as he seemed ok tonight.
Anant does not like the word no. He will often throw things and/or cry when told this word. Rob encourages me to say it more because I guess I don't say it enough. Grandma Kris and Auntie Neha's parents have experienced his crying when they have said no to him.
He is so funny with the words. Constantly practicing. Pointing at things and saying them all the time. He seems very pleased with himself that he can say these words.
We play a little game in the kitchen. As Anant likes to throw things like his fork and food. Often after being told not too. To make it a little lighter sometimes we point to one side of his tray at the floor and the other side and say "not here" "not there" "right here" (and point to where we want his food ON HIS TRAY). He does seem to like this game and laughs and it makes things a little less negative (although sometimes it cannot be avoided) and seems to work. I do think he gets it.
Tonight he had spaghetti. You'll see the pic. With a toddler the back of their chair gets really narley. From them putting thier food covered fingers on the back of the chair to look at things behind them. Tomato sauce all over the back of the chair, on his face, hands, everywhere. Its cute. When he first ate the spaghetti he made a noise of dislike. I realize where he has gotten this word. If you ever wonder where your child picks up strange noises listen to yourself. Yikes, that is the noise I make when I see something gross. Kind of like gargling with no liquid in your throat. But soon he was asking for more and more. I'm telling you the boy loves tomato products. Stewed tomatoes (they were a little spicy too! Italian kind), grape tomatoes, tomato sauce, ketchup etc. I'm happy for the lycopene he is getting (sorry, I'm a dietitian, had to put that in here!).
Anant played with Reina tonight. He is so funny with the other children that are older. They really like him. They were all looking at ants (lots of them at a neighbor's house). Anant would get too close and they would tell him to watch out so he doesn't get bit. No screaming (whew! maybe I'm off the hook?). How will I not scream at the next hairy spider, bug I see near me I don't know!
Today was the first day Anant went forwards in his Flintstone car!! I was so proud of him and cheered for him.
Well, my back is hurting. Better go.

Getting Things Straight
Anant is getting it now that I'm Momma and Dadda is Dadda not Momma. He has also recently differentiated between hot and cold. Using the right word for hot when his food is hot and cold when something feels cold (most of the time anyway). Before everything was hot whether it was hot or cold.
Today Anant was grumpy after his nap. Nap was only 1 1/2 hours. Seems to be the past few days he has not had the usual 2 hour nap. Not sure if he was hungry, tired or teething. He was biting on a plastic container at Genuardis today after church when we went there to eat with friends. And the drooling has kicked up again. He also felt a little warm to me tonight. Hard to not get frustrated with him when he is really whiny.
He woke up in the middle of the night last night with a leaking diaper. Put him back to bed and he was really screaming/crying. So sad to have to let him cry himself to sleep but there was no other way I could leave. I couldn't go back to sleep after this for a long time. So tired.
So, better go.
