Happy Family Day
Today is my Dad's Birthday and the day that we met Anant one year ago at BSSK. So much has changed! Some things are the same. As I watched him eat Lunch (mess!) I thought, yeah, still very messy. But its not from lack of skill now, its because he's "cooking". Making chapati, eggs, chopping onions etc. Wonder where he learns that? I'm uploading a picture of him today at Lunch. His language skills are excellent. He talks all the time. Recently he has figured out the difference between girls and boys. A few weeks ago he called everyone girls. Now, we'll be in the car and he'll be talking to me saying "Aunt Premila is a girl?", "Joey is a boy". Half asking and half making a statement. He wants me to confirm that he is understanding this now. So cute. Also the past few months Anant would ask questions about his friends like "what's _____'s Momma's name?" Even a friend who came to do some work on the house when I talked about Nelson coming to fix some things here he said "what's Mr. Nelson's Momma's name". So cute how he thinks aobut others this way. Also lately he projects things on others that he is experiencing. Today he was dry all day after Bible study. Then, Mommy's fault for not toileting him before we left, on the way home at 9pm tonight he wet his underwear. He said "Sophie is in her bed crying because she pee-peed in her underwear...it was an accident". "Suah is watching Lilo with her Momma".
I digressed. We had a Bible study today about being thankful and not forgetting what God has done in the past. I've given in to complaining and forgetting that God is good after my Mom's cancer had come back. But, just looking at Anant should remind me of how God has been so good to us, giving us more than we could ask or imagine. What a sweet boy. Then, these past months there have been many who have offered and watched Anant while I go to and from Delaware.
I did let Anant see his Lilo and Stitch movie today after his nap. He LOVES this movie. It has adoption themes through it and it was given to us by Anant's Aunt Deborah. My favorite quote is said by the alien Stitch "This is my family, its little and its broken, but its good, yeah, its good". Isn't that that the way our families are? There are always "issues".
We had an Indian Dinner and talked with Anant about those first days. How he wouldn't come to me and was afraid of me. What a change. He is now attached to my hip. Of course I do spend a lot of time with him. We ended up going out and buying another car (Rob was rear ended and the geo prism was totalled). We got a Toyota Sienna. The right one that was in our price range came up. It had just come into the dealership and hadn't been checked or detailed yet but Michelle at Car Vision got it done (we actually had to wait for a little while while the service dept finished an allignment on it). We ate pop corn, hot chocolate and played tag while we waited. Anant particularly liked sitting in a Mercedes. It was so cute. He had a blast and after all the running he did I hope he will sleep well tonight. He loved the open space in the dealership for running. Anant understands that "Daddy's car" has too many boo-boos so we had to get another car. The geo has been named by Anant as Rob's car and the Rav 4 is Anant's car. He sometimes gets upset if he has to ride in the geo.
So, after about 2 1/2 hours and 1 1/2 hours past Anant's bedtime we got home. There are currently 4 cars that we have at our house. The rental from the insurance company of the people who hit Rob, the geo (not for long it will be gone tomorrow), the Rav and the Sienna! Craziness!
