First, if you're a kid, you will probably need to find one or two adults to help.
Then, decide what you want to do. Some ideas are:
Get friends at school, at church or in your neighborhood involved.
Find a cool name for your group.
Do some research about the Red Knot so you can explain to
people what the problem is and how they can help. (Start with this
website, check out our links, and continue on from there!)
Write letters to Secretary Kempthorne (like we did) and get
everyone in your community to sign and send them.
Write letters to your U.S. Senators (like we did) and get everyone
in your community to sign and send them.
Use the internet to send e-mails to people you know telling them
about the Red Knot.
Create your own web site.
Contact environmental groups in your neighborhood, town or city
and ask them to help.
Organize an event to raise money to help shorebirds.
