Kids and Kritter's rescue animals are cared for by K&K volunteer staff and the directors of the organization.  We depend completely on donations to keep and care for our rescue animals. Often the animals that come to us are in poor health or have a chronic illness that requires costly veterinary care.  If you are interested in sponsoring an animal or donating to K&K of the NRV, Inc., please click on the 'Contact us' link above for more details.

Jake: [flea bitten gray arabian] Rescued by Montogomery County Animal Control officers from a place where he and 2 other horses had been abandoned because the person who owned them had lost their job and could no longer afford to feed them [not a very good reason in our minds, nor that of the police, the person was prosecuted for animal cruelty, neglect and abuse].  Thankfully someone saw them and realizing these horses were in a bad situation contacted the police. They are now all safe, healthy and happy. Jake is available for adoption*!! [ *$1000 adoption fee, he is well trained, a great trail horse, friendly and loving. Approx. 18-20 y/o]

Jinx: feral farm cat, only likes certain humans. Cool guy.

Smudge and Tulip were rescued from a man who did not realize that when you have a male and a female pot bellied pig they must be neutered/spayed, or they will breed..... A LOT!! He ended up with more than he could manage and they were not receiving proper care.  They live with the other rescued animals at our Animal Rescue Division, but are used for our Children's Programs also. [NOTE: if you are interested in sponsoring Smudge and/or Tulip, please send checks directly to the Animal Rescue Division, see our "Contact us" link for more information]

Cooper: [left: chestnut] Rescued from a horse auction suffering from uveitis [aka moonblindness] a disease of the eye that if left untreated causes blindness; we purchased him for $85.  When we had our vet examine him, he confirmed that Cooper would eventually go completely blind. Cooper is a 'permanent foster' at K&K, he is well trained, loves people, particularly children, and racks like the wind! Sponsor him!!

Jazzy:  [right; bay] also rescued from a horse auction, Jazzy had been terribly mishandled. She had a 2 inch diameter saddle sore on her withers, was terrified of tack and had no use for people. After working with her for several months Jazzy eventually became part of our riding lesson program and has been a wonderful addition to our family.  She is most well known for being Coopers caregiver, she makes sure he is safe, comfortable and happy.  Thanks Jazzy! She too is a permanent foster at K&K due to her attachment to Cooper, we could not break up that friendship. Sponser her!!

Cat World: Over the course of 12 years we have aquired many cats who for one reason or another are 'not placeable'.  We refer to them as our 'land of misfit cats'. Each has a very special and unique story, which we cannot go into here, but there are 17 kitties in Cat World, all permanent residents. Please consider sponsoring a cat!! See a sample of their individual stories below.
