My very first arcade machine! I picked this up December 10, 2005. I had to drive 2 1/2 hours one way, but worth every moment! When I pulled up, here it was in all it’s glory:

 

 

Naturally, the first thing I had to do was to take it apart! Here’s a look at some of the internals:

Monitor Assembly:

Here’s a shot from behind. Unfortunately, someone took a marker and traced the words out on the “Tactics”  portion of the title.  It’s a shame they weren’t at least more accurate. I hope I can remove just the marks, without dulling the color any more...

This game uses a fairly unique design for the display; instead of creating all the graphics on screen, the image is delivered in two parts.  First, the main portion of the game is created on a monitor mounted  below a mirror, and  dual strips of LEDs are mounted directly behind the mirror to combine both the laser effect and the game. This creates a more realistic look to the lasers as they race towards their target. Here is a picture of the LED assembly:
