BUFFALO, N.Y. (February 5, 2009)- Buffalo Ball Committee Members Kathleen Lewis and Jeffrey M. Conrad presented a $7,000 check to Dr. Betty Cappella and Dr. Geraldine Bard of Project FLIGHT.  Project FLIGHT, along with Angel Flight, was a 2008 Charity Recipient of the Buffalo Ball proceeds.  Project FLIGHT officials stated that the $7,000 donation is equivalent to 25,000 books

Project FLIGHT is a not-for-profit organization devoted to promoting literacy in children and caregivers, through school and family literacy initiatives. It works collaboratively with practitioners, schools, community organizations and businesses locally, statewide, nationally, and internationally to achieve its objectives.

The 3rd Annual Buffalo Ball held on December 27, 2008 generated a record crowd for it’s second consecutive year.  A crowd of over 725 guests enjoyed appetizers, cocktails, dancing, and a night on the town at Downtown Buffalo’s Historic Statler Tower’s Golden Ballroom. The Buffalo Ball was established to bring together Buffalonians, both current and displaced, during the holiday season.  It is an opportunity for all to visit with old friends and make new ones, all while benefiting important non-profit groups in this great city we call "home".

The Buffalo Ball Committee has given out over $45,000 in just three years to local charities such as Roswell Cancer Institute, Frank Lloyd Wright Boathouse, Hospice Buffalo, Re-Tree WNY, Project FLIGHT, and Angel Flight.   For more information about the Buffalo Ball visit the event’s website at www.thebuffaloball.org.

We are a volunteer corps of over 1200 private pilots and "Earth Angels" who combine our love of flying with the spirit of grassroots volunteerism by flying patients and their families to the critical health care they need. We provide air transportation in private aircraft by volunteer pilots so that children and adults may access life saving medical care free of charge.

Angel Flight New England (a.k.a. Angel Flight NE) is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit, tax-exempt organization that provides free air transportation to patients whose financial resources would not otherwise enable them to receive treatment or diagnosis, or who may live in rural areas without access to commercial airlines.

We are also a vital mode of transportation for organs, blood and for patients awaiting organ transplants. We also make compassion flights and provide air care wherever there is a compelling human need.

While our patients primarily live in the northeast United States, we currently provide flights for people as far north as Maine, as far west as Minnesota and as far south as Florida and Louisiana. Approximately 50% of our patients are children, generally suffering from severe burns or cancer.
