New York Metro Area Alumni Chapter Inaugural Event
Ship Ahoy!
On Sunday, September 10, 2006, D&E's New York Metro Area Alumni Chapter set sail on the Spirit of New Jersey for its inaugural event. The sky was blue and the sea was calm as the alumni boarded the ship at the Lincoln Harbor Marina in Weehawken, New Jersey for a two-hour cruise. While cruising through New York Harbor, the alumni experienced breathtaking views of the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, South Street Seaport, Empire State Building, and the Brooklyn Bridge. In addition to the buffet lunch, music and entertainment were also provided.
D&E's New York Metro Area Alumni Chapter's Inaugural Event was a huge success! Over 50 alumni participated, representing the following class years; 1953, 1956, 1958 - 1962, 1966, 1973-1976, 1978-1981, 1983, 1984, 1990, 1991, and 1994. "At this alumni event I had the opportunity to reconnect with one of my classmates who I haven't seen in over 40 years!" said Dr. Frank Mele from the Class of 1958. Casey Wilkinson Zahn from the Class of 1981 said, "It was great seeing some of my former classmates at this event. We picked up where we left off 25 years ago!"
