How Still My Time Goes On..

How still these wretched days have been

How still my time goes on

A pointless linger of a life un-lived

Untouched, unseen by you

I hear you distant thunder roar

Across the field in vein

I feel the subtle breeze you whisper

Brush against my soul

I see you dance up on the clearing

On gusty days, perhaps

Unless my sense of love is wrong

How still my time goes on

I pray for you this breathless dawn

As all my life I have

Until the truth and passions bleed

I’m ever bound to you

Exhausted by the furthest reach

Beyond the field you lay

This peace of warmth in what I knew

Entangled in my heart

For what poor fool could bid this term

Of shattered sunlight rays

On forth this path to meadows edge

How still my time goes on

The anguished hound who sealed my faith

Past the break of mourn

Is one more tear of shuddered pain

That scrapes against my soul

I’ll look for you across this plain

Thru shadows in my heart

Until the days I treasure here

Are what my life has had

Creeping closer my only hope

Of desolate consequence

But for the fool I was once then

How still my time goes on…..
