Bylaws

Every group needs bylaws to help establish thier mission and purpose.

Lower Bucks Genealogy Club Bylaws

 

  1. Name

The name of this organization is the Lower Bucks Genealogy Club.

 

  1. Purpose

The purposes of this organization are:

i)        To assemble people who are interested in genealogy and preserving family history.

ii)      To help others gain genealogical information.

iii)    To provide assistance, instruction and education of genealogical practices, as recognized by the Board of Certification of Genealogists and / or the Board of Accredited Genealogists.

 

  1. Membership

i)        Any applicant interested in furthering the objectives if this Club shall be accepted for membership upon submission of a completed application form and payment of dues.

ii)      Members are expected to actively contribute to the Club. Such contributions could be:

(1)   Present or sponsor a lecture

(2)   Plan a field trip

(3)   Provide lookups and/or research

(4)   Locate and transcribe local genealogical records

(5)   Provide content for the Club Newsletter

(6)   Share knowledge and research with other Club members

(7)   Fundraising ideas

(8)   Project ideas

iii)    Every member agrees that this organization will not authorize, certify or verify authenticity of any research services provided by said member to another individual.

 

  1. Meetings

Meetings shall be held monthly and constitute of:

            Part 1: Business – Reading of the Minutes, Treasury Report

            Part 2: Round Table Discussion

            Part 3: Lecture or Guest Speaker

 

  1. Finances
    1. The operating expenses of the Club shall be covered from collection of dues, donations, sales of publications, and any such additional functions as the membership may authorize.
    2. The Club’s fiscal year is from November 1 through October 31.
    3. In the event of the dissolution of the Club, all salable assets shall be converted to cash. The monies of the Club shall be donated to the Spruance Library, Doylestown, PA.
