Oxford, Maryland, "was officially founded in 1694, making it one of Maryland's oldest towns.
Oxford is located near the mouth of the Tred Avon River and served as one of only two ports of entry for British trade vessels
in Colonial times. Oxford flourished in this capacity until the Revolutionary War brought an end to British trade.
The town declined for many years until oystering businesses began to flourish in the late 1800's. Today, Oxford is a
quiet town that is enjoyed by visitors who appreciate it's history and charm." from Bay web site
We had a fine day in this small bay town visited a mystery book shop, walked through the small cemetery to find a local
Rev. War Hero... Tilghman, met locals at a bar, explored their
small history museum, found their best ice cream and handmade chocolates run by an local woman (who gave Chuck her pickle
to taste) and met her imported Scottish husband who makes over 600 favors of ice cream...
Anita liked the
peach. We had some and enjoyed the town park over looking the bay.
