First and foremost we have to list the wives because without their support and putting up with a multitude
of Goomba activities, (many which could cause marriages to fail) we would not be here today. Things like all night brainstorming
sessions, the smell of fermenting wine permeating throughout the house, the savings account balance mysteriously dropping
periodically, and last but not least - the single mindedness of their husbands who can't seem to have an intelligent conversation
unless it concerns wine.
Jody DeCianno - Jody is Jay's wife and the has cheerfully allowed us to put a commercial
winery inside of her home for god's sake! God bless her because she is destined for sainthood. Jody has never complained
(at least to the rest of us) about the traffic in/out of her home, the smell of fermenting wine, the purple stains that
show up here and there, or the time and energy her husband has invested in this endevour. She is without a doubt the Queen
of the 4th Goomba Club!
Carol Camden - Carol is David's wife and although we think that perhaps she may have
been a little skeptical in the beginning about her husband's winemaking antics, Carol has become a major supporter
of the business and we believe is probably David's secret consultant on marketing activities behind the scenes due to the
fact that he seems to always come up with some really bright stuff.
Denise Gaetani - Denise is the winemaker's wife and has become so use to her husband's
visionary and nirvana business ideas in the past that she once again just went with the flow perhaps thinking that he
would come back to earth sooner or latter. However, she always supported the idea, never once complained, and
allowed the winemaker to do his thing even at the sacrafice of some family time. Denise has recently become certified in Cap
Management which is a process of "punching down" the grapes during fermentation to achieve maximum color extraction.
Joe Diaddigo - Joe is a neighbor, very close friend, and the exclusive distributor of Quattro
Goomba's Wine. Owner of Diego and Son Distributors, Joe quickly setup the distribution channel we needed in order to sell
our wine to retailers. When other distributors laughed at our small inventory and production capacity, Joe jumped in whole
heartedly, got his wine distributor license, and is now our life long partner in the wine business. Joe is laughing at the
competition all the way to the bank and we are forever grateful for his services and belief in the Goomba brand. Joe earned
his title as the King of the 4th Goomba Club.
Sean Gaetani - Sean is the 14 year old son of the winemaker and has quickly climbed through
the ranks at the winery. Recently promoted to Senior Cellar Rat, Sean has mastered many jobs within the winery such as Bottle
Corking, Capsule Shrinking, Case Packaging and General Laborer helping to cleanup, haul tons of grapes and discard trash.
Sean has earned the title of Prince of the 4th Goomba Club. Sean secretly wants to marry one of the DeCianno girls so he can
inherit two thirds of the business some day. Smart boy!
Taylor Evans - Taylor is Sean's best friend and fellow Goomba Cellar Rat and is always
willing and able whenever we need some help hauling and cleaning up. That's Taylor in the Loudoun Extra photo hauling
out empty cases of grapes.
Jessica DeCianno - The oldest of the three DeCianno girls and gifted artist, Jessica was
instrumental in the development of the Goomba wine label working in collaboration with Peter Lawrence. The Goombas trust her
keen eye for art and depend heavily on Jessica's input on all Goomba marketing and sales related material. If Jessy says it
looks right, we go with it.
Gina DeCianno - The middle daughter of Jay and Jody, Gina is always hovering around the
winery looking to help out with any task that needs to get done. She has helped us crush, press, bottle, cork, label, you
name it and Gina has done it. Gina has earned the title of Princess of the 4th Goomba Club.
Becca DeCianno - The youngest of the DeCianno girls, Becca is a Cellar Rat in training
and is quickly coming up to speed on many jobs in the winery operations such as labeling, corking, and packaging.
Peter Lawrence - Peter is a graphic artist student at George Mason University who together
with Jessica DeCianno designed our wine label.
Diana Sandone - Diana is the sister of David Gaetani and one of the biggest fans and supporters
of the winery. Diana shares our passion for fine wine and winemaking and travels from New Jersey each year to be on hand for
the fall crush and is always a big help in the winery. When were searching for a product name, Diana jokingly mention "how
about Vino Diana" and the Goombas seriously liked it. We decided it was a pretty name and had a good Italian ring to
it so our Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot blend became Vino D' Ana.
Robert Warner - Robert is the nephew of Dave Gaetani and advertising executive from New
Jersey who conceived the Q concept for the wine label.
Valerie Cavalheri - Val is a huge fan and dear friend of the Goomba's and a professional
photographer and journalist. All of the photos seen on this website were shot by Val. Val also wrote the Goomba story "Microwinery
Takes Root In Basement" which appeared in the Loudoun Extra of the Washington Post on Sept. 20, 2007.
Kathy and David Worek - Neighbors (across the street from the winery) and close friend
of the Goombas, Kathy and David are huge fans of our wine and great supporters of our business. If you live in South Riding
you've probably heard Kathy talking up the Goombas. We absolutely love her! Kathy is also assisting us with concept, layout,
and design of our first tasting room.
Pam Fisne - Owner of Winestyles in South Riding, Pam immediately believed in us and was
willing to carry our wine even before she tasted it. She loved the concept and the fact that we were local and knew it would
be a win-win partnership. We are forever grateful to Pam for giving us the sales channel we needed to bring our
product to market.
Charlotte and Rob Hagman - Charlotte manages Winestyles stores in South Riding and Fairfax
and husband Rob also works there. This wonderful couple are extremely knowledgable about wine and have become big
fans of our blends. We thank them for doing an excellent job at introducing their customer's to the Quattro Goomba brand.
