Causes and Symptoms of Possession

How do people become possessed?

There are a number of ways. I will list some of them but there may be others.

Inheritance: When the parents of a child are involved in occultic activity, such as witchcraft, they will become possessed and it is quite likely that their offspring will inherit demons. It is not the child's fault but it becomes a victim of the ungodly practices of its parents.

Dedication: Children may be dedicated to Satan or any other demon at birth. It may not become apparent during the child's early years that anything is wrong. However, Satan eventually comes to collect that which has been dedicated to him.

Practices forbidden by God

  • These include but are not limited to the use of, astrology, clairvoyance, Ouija boards, tarot cards, seances, worship of false gods and idols.
  • Forbidden sexual practices: Homosexual sex, adultery, fornication, incest, pedophilia, and bestiality.
  • The use of pornography
  • The recreational use of  drugs.
  • Indulging in excessive alcohol (Drunkenness)
  • Induction into religions such as Wicca
  • Sexual abuse

Did that last one catch your eye? Yes, sexual abuse may lead to demon possession. The majority of people who have received deliverance from us, have been sexually abused, often times by a member of their family, whether it be the father, grandfather, brother or uncle. Many of these people never seem to recover from the trauma and end up taking their lives. Jesus Christ can do what secular counselors cannot do. He can set them free of the pain, devastation and humiliation of their abuse.

Sex chat rooms are a breeding ground for demon possession. The people who frequent such rooms and indulge in what they think is mere sexual talk, have been known to become possessed. In one case, a Christian woman whom I knew to be a Godly woman began going into the sex chat rooms to engage in cyber sex. She confessed her sin to me and accepted the Lord's forgiveness. However, it was not long before she returned to the rooms and began her sexual liaisons once again. The end result was, she lost her husband and marriage. She is now a lesbian. She had not engaged in cyber sex with a man but with a woman.

This is what the Lord has shown me, that if I can cast out demons in a chat room, so may demons inhabit a person in a chat room. Such are the dangers from what is perceived as "just a bit of fun."

The use of recreational drugs and excessive use of alcohol leads to a loss of self control, even if only on a temporary basis. (The bible tells us to be "self-controlled.") Demons only need a small window in which to break in. They will control what is out of control, namely the person who is drunk or drugged. Several people who were drug addicts at the time of their deliverance are no longer addicts, and they had no withdrawal symptoms following their deliverance. That, in itself, shows me that drug use is far more than chemical dependency. I had no idea at the time of the deliverances that the drug addicts would have no problems due to withdrawal.

God has forbidden His people to practice divination, among other things. Divination is defined as the practice of foretelling future events by occultic means. The reason God forbids certain things to people is not because He wants to keep up from enjoying ourselves but because the forbidden things lead to sin and demon possession. Perhaps you are a parent. Why do you tell your children to not play in the road? Or why do you tell your children to not get too close to a heater? Is it because you want to be boss over them, or is it because you have their safety in mind? Likewise, God has our safety in mind. It is not safe to indulge in seances, casual sex, illicit drugs, drunkenness, etc.

Hypnosis is another problem because one submits one's will (spirit) to the will of another person. Hypnosis is spiritual and those who practice it seem not to be aware of how dangerous it is. In one case we dealt with, the victim had long suffered from anxiety. Following his hypnosis - which revealed nothing - he began to have nightmares, seeing bloody accidents. He also began hearing voices telling him to jump under cars. He went back to the doctor to tell him of his new problem, and mentioned that some Christians condemn the practic of hypnotism. The doctor said that Christians are paranoid, and that his new problem must have come from something else. We know that the doctor's words were untrue, and that he was responsible for the new problem. Following deliverance, the man no longer had any problems with anxiety or the more serious things. Stay away from hypnosis!

Some symptoms of possession

The symptoms are universal and include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Depression
  • Constant sickness
  • Hearing voices
  • Suicidal tendencies and desire
  • Cutting
  • Unnatural fears
  • Nightmares
  • Hatred for the things of God
  • Eating disorders
  • Mental disorders such as MPD and Schizophrenia
  • Drug addiction

Comments on the more common types of problems.

Cutting

There may be medical reasons for things such as eating disorders and depression but when it is found that prolonged medical treatment does nothing to heal the sufferer, then it is time to look for a spiritual reason.

People who deliberately cut themselves are not mentally ill at all. This phenomenon has one reason: Demons! Before you judge me as crazy, as some have done, allow me to say this: The cutters who are under psychiatric care, including medication, will never be healed. The problem may possibly be subdued but never healed. Yet for those cutters from whom I have cast out demons, they have been healed. Cutters often believe (or they tell me) that they can get the cutting under control. Sometimes they may go for a few weeks without cutting but then they become overwhelmed, once again, and they cut. This self-injury is not restricted to cutting but may involve other means of injuring the flesh.

Hearing Voices

One Sunday morning, a Christian man came to me, on-line, and said he had been told I could help him. His problem was voices in his head. The voices were constant and often loud. His voices began eleven years prior to that Sunday morning, yet thirteen years ago he had received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour. He had been under psychiatric care for eleven years and medication (at $2,000 per year) was his only source of relief. It did not get rid of the voices but subdued them to the point where he was able to live with them. Yet, even as we chatted on-line, he was hearing voices coming from his TV which was turned off.

Within five minutes of meeting him, he was free of the voices. At first, all of the loud, clear voices disappeared, leaving behind a "babbling voice." In the next thirty seconds, even the babbling voice was gone. Two weeks later, this man came to me and told me he was healed. The voices did not return.

Drug Addiction

Every person who has admitted to a drug addiction and submitted to deliverance, has been instantly set free with no withdrawal symptoms.

I used to sit in the witches chat rooms and wait, because that is where many people go to seek help. They think witches have some special power to help them. Witches (whether or not they know it) work through the power of Satan, and he has no intention of handing out free healing. He wants his "pound of flesh" so to speak. He may work a "miraculous" healing but there is a heavy price to pay, usually the cost of one's soul.

Early in December of 2000, a woman came into the witches' room, seeking a healing for depression and drug addiction. I watched as all kinds of suggestions were made. Everything they said was sheer nonsense. The poor woman was about to leave when I sent her a private message to ask if she would allow me to help her. She agreed. The result was, to her amazement, she is no longer a drug addict and neither does she have depressions.
