Rhonda Moskowitz, Director/Producer
Rhonda is the founder and principle of Shining Light Productions. She has had unprecedented access
and the privilege to film incarcerated Jews inside four maximum security prisons in two separate states, including Death Row.
She is the recipient of a Special Commendation from the Boston Society of Film Critics, for founding and organizing Connect
the Docs, a monthly film salon for documentary filmmakers. Rhonda has written for various publications about film and
about Judaism and has served on panels at film festivals and Jewish scholars conferences. She lives with her husband, daughter
and dog. It is her goal that the film, RETURN (TESHUVA), will take away the
shame about the subject of Jewish prisoners and it is her hope that the film, and its' profound universal themes, will
expand the way people define themselves and each other.
Sean Flynn, Director of Photography
As a producer and cinematographer,
Sean is involved in all aspects of documentary development, production, marketing and distribution. He served as Associate
Producer and Director of Photography in Afghanistan on BEYOND BELIEF, which premiered at the 2007
Tribeca Film Festival. In 2008, Sean was a filmmaker resident at the Content + Intent Documentary Institute at the Massachusetts
Museum of Contemporary Art. He is Cinematographer and Co-Producer on Principle Pictures',THE PROMISE OF FREEDOM, which
won the $10,000 Fledgling Fund Award for Best Socially Conscious Documentary, at IFP's 2008 Independent Film Week.
Before joining Principle Pictures, he studied film and political science at the University
of Southern California and the University
of Otago in New Zealand.
In addition to his passion for documentary filmmaking, Sean is an avid traveler and musician.
Joshua Z. Weinstein, Additional Cinematography
Joshua Z Weinstein received a Bachelor's degree in Film Production from Boston University in May of
2005. His camera work has been shown on VH1's "Dice," Food Network's "The Secret Life of!," TLC's documentary "Camp 911,"
and E! Network's "Fashion Week." Joshua also worked in the camera department on Martin Scorsese's 2008 Rolling Stone's film
"Shine a Light." He directed a number of shorts prior to FLYING ON ONE ENGINE, which is his long-form directorial debut,and
screening world wide to great acclaim, including 2008's IDFA. Joshua was born in New York City and currently resides
in Queens. His main joys in life are bicycling, family and good cooking. He was also bassist and manager for the hardcore
band Trophy Scars, but prefers not to talk about it.
Frederick Shanahan, Editing Intern
Frederick Shanahan graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Boston University College of Communication with a degree in Film
Production. His student thesis film, Refract, was an official
selection of the New Hampshire Film Festival (2008) and the Boston Film Night (2009). He currently works as a freelance film
and video editor in Brooklyn, NY
Jack Levin, Advisor
JACK LEVIN, Ph.D. is the Brudnick Professor of Sociology and Criminology
at Northeastern University in Boston, where he co-directs its Center on Violence and Conflict and teaches courses in the sociology
of violence and hate. He
has authored or co-authored 30 books, including Mass Murder: America’ s Growing Menace, Why We Hate, The Functions
of Prejudice, Hate Crimes Revisited, The Will to Kill: Making Sense of Senseless Murder, Domestic Terrorism, Serial Killers
and Sadistic Murderers—Up Close and Personal, and
The Violence of Hate. Dr. Levin has published more than 150 articles in professional journals and newspapers, such as The New York Times,
Boston Globe, Dallas Morning News, Philadelphia Inquirer, Christian Science Monitor, Chicago Tribune, Washington Post, and
USA Today. He appears frequently on national television programs, including 48 Hours, 20/20, Dateline
NBC, The Today Show, Good Morning America, Oprah, The O’Reilly Factor, Larry King Live, and all network newscasts.
Dr. Levin was honored by the Massachusetts Council for Advancement and
Support of Education as its “Professor of the Year.” He has spoken to a wide variety of community, academic, and
professional groups, including the White House Conference on Hate Crimes, the Department of Justice, the Department of Education,
OSCE’s Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (a membership of 59 countries) and the International Association
of Chiefs of Police.
Sandra Schulberg, Advisor
Sandra Schulberg is a key figure in helping to create worldwide markets for independent
films both as a producer and as founder and former president of the Independent Features Project (IFP) and the Independent
Features Film Market (IFFM). From 1989 until 1996, Schulberg served under Lindsay Law as senior vice president of American
Playhouse, the consortium of PBS stations which funded films on a wide range of American cultural themes and she was the driving
force behind American Playhouse Abroad, the unit's international division. In 1996, she established her own production company
which has projects in various states of development. She is currently raising funds to restore NUREMBERG: ITS LESSON FOR TODAY,
the official docmentary about the Nuremberg Trial. She is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Columbia University. Born
in Paris, she is fluent in four languages and was educated at Swathmore College.
