Warning Message:The National Weather Service in Phoenix has issued a red flag
warning...which is in effect from 11 am MST /10 am PST/ this
morning to 8 PM MST /7 PM PST/ this evening.
A strong and dry low pressure system and its accompanying cold
front will push southward across southeast California and Arizona
today. Strong and gusty northerly winds will develop. Sustained 20-foot
winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 45 mph can be expected by midday.
In addition...much drier air will filter in behind the front with
minimum relative humidity values dropping into the 10 to 15 percent
range. This will lead to the development of hazardous fire weather
conditions during the advised period.
As a result...the red flag warning has been expanded to include Joshua
Tree National Park in southeast California...and the southwest and
south-central deserts in Arizona.
Please advise the appropriate officials and fire crews in the
field of this red flag warning.
