Workforce ReductionsThe Union met with members of the School Committee and the Superintendent of Schools on June 3, 2009 to bargain the impact of proposed reductions in the School Department Employees bargaining unit.  Workforce reductions will result in the elemination of some Custodial and ILA positions.  Employees who have completed their 90-day probationary period are eligible to be recalled for a period of up to two (2) years:

Negotiations
Wage Freeze & Reduction in Hours:  On May 26, 2009 members of the DPW and Municipal Center Employees bargaining units voted (19 to 16) to accept a six-month Wage Freeze (3%).
Members of the Municipal Center Employees bargaining unit also agreed to temporary reductions in hours for certain positions.  These concessions are effective July 1, 2009.
