Sandy Miner
is a lifelong designer and knitter of items ranging
from preemie
to adult and all sizes in between. Her specialty and first love is designing and knitting for infants and children.
She doesn't ever remember learning to knit but her mother was an avid knitter.
Sandy is a firm
believer that if you can knit, purl and read you can knit anything you desire. All
patterns are just variations of knitting and purling. Almost all of her designs
are written in number of stitches and rows therefore changing the size of
the needles or weight of the yarn should create the same effect maybe just bigger or smaller than the original pattern states.
Sandy founded the
Warm The Baby Project in 1997 which was dedicated to knitting items for preemies and infants. A few years later she founded Hats With Hugs dedicated to knitting hats for cancer/hair
loss patients and all who could benefit from a hat to warm them. She designed
patterns for both of these projects and many charitable organizations still
use Sandy’s wonderful
patterns with her kind permission, of course.
Sandy is active
on many Internet groups these days although you may have already known who she was.
Both of the projects that Sandy founded were featured several
times in local newspapers, picked-up by syndicated columnists, and appeared in many
knitting publications as well as Sandy's
interviews appearing on CNN, and local television stations. She is always ready to provide inspiration and support for anyone who wants to make a difference in
the lives of others through their knitting.
Sandy continues
to design and knit for her family and friends as well as for many charities, including Navy/Marine Relief. One of her family and friends specialties is designing and knitting Christmas Stockings for each new family
member as well as new babies for close friends.
On the personal side, Sandy lives in
the small New England Town of Erving, MA with her husband Bob and daughter Dawn. Their
family also includes John and his wife Nicole, JoEllen and her sons, Mikey
and Harry, Dan and his wife Beth along with their children, Emma, Kaitlyn
and Christopher.
Sandy would like
to thank her family and friends for their encouragement, patience and many
ideas though out her many years of designing and knitting. Especially to her
family for waiting patiently while she "finishes one more row".
