SNOWMAN ROLL BRIM HAT
These directions are “loosely written” but hopefully easy enough to
follow and call for using double pointed needles and working “in the round”. Hats may also be knit on straight
needles working back and forth in stockinette stitch (knit one row, purl one row).
When only one set of numbers/instructions is given it applies to all sizes.

HAT BODY: With white
yarn cast on stitches. Join being careful not to twist stitches. Work until desired
length. When measuring Unroll the brim and measure from bottom.
SHAPE TOP: Change to black
yarn and continue as follows
Round 1: *Knit 5, Knit 2 together, repeat from * around
(If you don’t end with a K2 together, not to worry,
it’ll be ok in the end result)
Round 2, 4, 6 & 8: Knit around (OR Purl across on uneven rows)
Round
3: *Knit 4, Knit 2 together, repeat from * around
Round 5: *Knit 3, Knit 2 together, repeat from * around
Round 7: *Knit 2, Knit 2 together, repeat from * around
Round 9: *Knit 1, Knit
2 together, repeat from * around
Rounds 10 - 16: Knit around (OR Purl across on uneven rows)
Cut yarn leaving
a piece about 8 inches and weave thru stitches but DO NOT SECURE. If you haven’t
worked “in the round” use another piece of yarn and sew seam to top of hat.
For both methods take top stitches and fold over to outside of hat to about where you stopped the decreases. Pull tight and secure. I usually pull the yarn tight and then
wrap around the bottom of the “button” and then pull to the inside and secure tightly. This will make your “Button Top Hat”
EYES
Using black
yarn embroider two X’s for the eyes
NOSE
Using orange
yarn simply embroider a triangle or a few small stitches to for the nose.
MOUTH
Using
pink or red yarn embroider a “smile” on the hat.
ENJOY!
