We often do a study of structures of many kinds. We usually begin with bridges -- we look at some, build some, and do a research project on famous bridges. Then we often open it up to many types of structures for more investigation and research -- houses, towers, monuments, roller coasters, castles, the space station, and anything else that attracts the curiosity of our students. There is an interesting overlap of social studies and mathematics skills as we explore the things people have built and learn about the individuals and societies who have created them.

. . . Where I can find information?

Here are some websites that may be helpful as students begin to explore the possibilities. Ones that we think are especially good are listed in Bold Italic type. Several of the titles are very similar, but they are actually different sites. We'll be adding to this list as we discover new online resources, and we invite suggestions from you for sites that should be included here.
