6/29/09...Kyle Mullen was named Pitcher of the Year by the Daily News today. He
is joined on the first-team All-City squad by fellow hurler Kevin Gillen. 1B Jeff Lynch, OF Gio Morales, and C Ray Toto also

6/14/09...Congratulations to seniors Kyle Mullen and Kevin Gillen for being named to
the second-team All-Southeastern PA baseball squad by the Philadelphia Inquirer. Jeff Lynch earned honorable mention,
and the Prep finished sixth in the paper's ranking of the top ten teams in Southeastern PA.
6/8/09...The Prep lost by a score of 6-2 to Parkland High School in the PIAA Class 4A
State Semifinals. Sophomore catcher Ray Toto launched a two-run homer in the top of the seventh to break up the shutout.
6/6/09...Senior RHP Kyle Mullen notched another post-season win in dramatic fashion
this afternoon, downing West Chester East by a final of 2-1. W.C. East, District One's Class 4A Champion, came into the contest
ranked second in Southeastern Pennsylvania by The Philadelphia Inquirer, but Mullen stymied their bats en route to
a complete-game victory. Sophomore catcher Ray Toto went 2-3 in the win. The Hawks will face Parkland High School on Monday

6/1/09...The Hawks won 4-3 over Garnet Valley in the opening round of
the PIAA State Playoffs. Kyle Mullen struck out nine and walked one en route to a complete game, and Ray Toto had two hits.
Jeff Lynch provided a key two-run single in the fifth that proved to be the difference in the game.
The Prep will face West Chester East on Thursday in the state quarterfinals at a time and location to be announced.
5/28/09...The Prep claimed the District 12 Class 4A title tonight with an 11-1 victory at
Campbell's Field over Public League champ Central High. PCL Red Division MVP Kevin Gillen struck out eight in five innings
to pick up the win and three Hawks - Giovanni Morales, Ray Toto, and Jeff Lynch - each had two hits. The Prep advances
to the PIAA state playoffs on Monday at 1 pm at LaSalle University against Garnet Valley. Click the link below to read

5/27/09...Seniors Perry Russom and Sean Murphy led the way on offense with two hits each
as the Hawks downed LaSalle for the third time in 2009 by a score of 4-0. Kyle Mullen pitched brilliantly, going the
distance and fanning seven. Also, special congratulations to senior LHP Bobby Della Polla for being named "Best Teammate 2009"
by Ted Silary of the Philadelphia Daily News today. Congratulations as well to junior 3B Buddy Brooks, named one of Southeastern
PA's top ten 3B.

5/26/09...Neumann-Goretti defeated LaSalle, 3-1, in eight innings today to force a District
12 Class 4A play-in game tomorrow between LaSalle and the Prep. The game will be at Widener University at 3:45 pm. The winner
will advance to the District 12 Class 4A Championship Game on Thursday at 7 pm at Campbell's Field against the Public League
Class 4A Qualifier.
5/22/09...The Prep fell to Neumann-Goretti, 10-9, in nine innings in
the PCL semifinals. With two outs in the bottom of the seventh and no one on base, the Hawks launched an improbable rally
to tie the game and send it into extras, demonstrating the resiliency that has been a hallmark all year long. Giovanni
Morales and Ray Toto each had four hits, and Jeff Lynch and Buddy Brooks chipped in with three
apiece in the losing effort. If Neumann-Goretti goes on to defeat LaSalle in the PCL Championship, the Hawks will face the
Explorers next Wednesday, May 27th, at Widener University to determine the PCL's Class 4A Qualifier for districts.
5/19/09...The Prep defeated Conwell-Egan, 4-0, behind senior RHP Kyle Mullen's masterful
nine strikeout, one walk, complete game shutout. Kyle is a perfect 5-0 for his career in the playoffs. Kevin Gillen and Danny
Turner led the offense with two hits apiece. Ray Toto picked up an RBI single in the first, and Giovanni Morales iced the

5/14/09...Congratulations to Kevin Gillen, voted 2009 PCL Red Dvision MVP by the league's
coaches! The senior RHP/2B went 6-1 on the hill for the Hawks and hit .324 in PCL play. He will pitch next year for Johns
Hopkins University. Congratulations also go to fellow 1st team selections Jeff Lynch (sr. 1B, Johns Hopkins University) and
Giovanni Morales (sr. OF, California University of Pennsylvania), and 2nd team selections Kyle Mullen (sr. RHP, St. Joseph's
University), Buddy Brooks (jr. 3B), and Sean Murphy (sr. OF).
5/13/09...The Prep clinched its fourth consecutive division title with a resounding 16-2
win over Monsignor Bonner. Kyle Mullen picked up the win. Jeff Lynch pounded out three extra base base hits, including a two-run
homer, and Ray Toto went 2-4 with four RBI's for the Hawks.
5/12/09...Bobby Della Polla picked up his first win of 2009 as the Hawks downed Roman Catholic,
11-4. Kevin Gillen led the charge offensively, going 2-3, including a bases-clearing triple, with two runs scored
and four RBI's. Ray Toto went 2-4 with a two-run homer.

5/11/09...The Prep defeated Roman Catholic, 5-0, behind a masterful performance by Kevin
Gillen. The senior RHP, now 6-0 in PCL play, gave up only one hit over five innings. Sophomore catcher Ray Toto went 2-3 for
the Hawks.
5/5/09...Georgetown junior Tom Elliott (SJP Baseball '06) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll by the league offices earlier
today. The Hoya shortstop went 8-for-13 (.615 batting average), while amassing a 1.000 slugging percentage, five runs, two
doubles, one home run and four RBI's as the team went 2-1 last week.
Elliott currently leads the team in triples, is second on the squad in runs scored, home runs,
total bases and stolen bases and is third in slugging percentage. Against Norfolk State, he went 4-for-5 with three runs scored
and four RBI's. He also hit his seventh home run and recorded a double in the 15-4 victory. He followed that with a 2-for-4
performance and scoring a run in Georgetown's 7-5 win over Pittsburgh, earning the Hoyas a series split with the Panthers.
5/4/09...All baseball games against Bonner scheduled for today have been cancelled. No make-up
dates have been determined yet.
4/30/09...Senior OF Giovanni Morales capped off a victorious day for the Hawks with
an inside-the-park home run as the Prep triumphed over O'Hara, 5-1. Kyle Mullen hurled a gem, going the distance and fanning
11 Lions Buddy Brooks added a triple, and Jeff Lynch and Kevin Gillen chipped in with two hits apiece.
4/28/09...Kevin Gillen raised his record to 5-0 in PCL play with a gem, whiffing ten and
walking one to earn the complete game shutout win. Ryan Eden went 4-4 with two runs scored and two RBI's for the Prep.
4/23/09...The Hawks completed a sweep of LaSalle, winning 5-1 behind a Kyle Mullen complete
game. The senior righty fanned seven and walked two. Seniors Giovanni Morales and Kevin Gillen each went 2-4 to lead
the offensive attack.
4/21/09...The Prep downed LaSalle, 6-3, behind another stellar performance by senior RHP
Kevin Gillen. Gillen threw 5 1/3 innings, allowing three runs on three hits. Ryan Eden earned the save for the Hawks. Sophomore
catcher Ray Toto and junior third baseman Buddy Brooks led the way offensively with two hits each.
4/17/09...Kevin Gillen picked up his third league victory in a 4-3, eight-inning win

4/2/09...Kevin Gillen earned his second league victory in as many starts courtesy of Jeff
Lynch's game-winning RBI double in the home seventh to down Archbishop Ryan, 2-1. Gillen went the distance, allowing
only three hits. Lynch provided the offensive fireworks, finishing the day 3-3 with two RBI's.
3/31/09...Syracuse Univeristy's Nelson Russom (SJP Baseball '06) was named clubteam.com's
national collegiate club player of the week. Nelson is an outfielder and cleanup hitter for the Orange.
3/29/09...Georgetown University's Tom Elliott (SJP Baseball '06) collected the first hit
ever at the Mets' new ballpark, CitiField, today in a 6-4 Big East win over St. John's. Congrats to Tommy!
3/25/09...Kevin Gillen twirled a complete-game two-hitter and helped himself at the plate
with two hits to lead the Hawks to a 4-2 win over North Catholic at Ashburn Field. Sean Murphy went 3-3.
3/23/09...Kyle Mullen (no-decision) pitched valiantly as the Prep lost, 6-5,
to North Catholic in nine innings yesterday. The senior righty struck out seven in five and one-third innings. Jeff Lynch
went 3-3 with two runs scored and Sean Murphy added two hits for the Hawks.
3/22/09...Pat Carbone notched
his first varsity victory against Hanover Area High School with four strong innings on the hill (7 K, 3 BB, 1 H) for the Hawks.
Outfielders Perry Russom and Dan Turner each went 2-3.
