6/22/08...Congratulations to the
Prep players named in today's Philadelphia Inquirer to the All-Southeastern Pennsylvania baseball team, first-team
second baseman Brett Tiagwad and honorable mentions Aaron Haas, Tim Edger, and Kyle Mullen. The Prep ended the season ranked
third in Southeastern Pennsylvania. Also, Tim Edger earned special recognition in an article acompanying the All-SE PA squad

5/27/08...Kyle Mullen stymied Monsignor
Bonner, throwing a complete-game, four-hit, one-run gem as the Prep claimed its second Philadelphia Catholic League title
in as many years. RBI singles by Aaron Haas, Jeff Lynch, and Brett Tiagwad fueled the offense, and several stellar defensive
plays, including a running grab in centerfield by Dan Turner and a big pick by Haas at first base protected the lead.
5/22/08...A five-run home sixth,
punctuated by Perry Russom's two-run double to dead-center, erased a one-run Neumann-Goretti lead and propelled the Hawks
to a stirring 5-1 semifinal win. Aaron Haas gave up one run in five solid innings of work on the mound, and Kyle Mullen earned
the win in relief.
5/21/08...Kyle Mullen, Kevin Gillen,
and Pat Carbone combined to no-hit visiting Archbishop Wood in the opening round of the PCL playoffs. Brett Tiagwad provided
the offensive fireworks, going 3-4 with a double, a triple, and three RBI's.

5/15/08...The Prep clinched its
third consecutive regular season division title, a first in Prep Baseball history, with a resounding 9-0 victory over Roman.
Aaron Haas posted his fifth Catholic League win of the year, going the distance, and he helped his own cause, leading the
offensive attack by going 3-4 on the day with two runs scored and two RBI's. Tim Edger logged two hits, as did leadoff man
Brett Tiagwad, who notched his 100th career hit in the process.
5/14/08...Kyle Mullen notched his
fifth win of the season, and Brett Tiagwad (solo), Perry Russom (solo), and Aaron Haas (three-run shot) added homers as the
Prep downed Roman, 10-3, at Boyce Field in Roxborough.
5/7/08...The Hawks completed their
sweep of Archbishop Ryan with a tense 5-2 win. Aaron Haas threw five solid innings to earn the win, and Kevin Gillen nailed
it down, allowing only one unearned run in two innings of relief. Haas helped his own cause with two hits, and the big blow
was delivered by Pat Malloy, who bashed a two-run double in the fourth to give the Prep the lead for good.
5/5/08...The Prep dropped Archbishop
Ryan, 11-0, behind Kyle Mullen's complete-game, two-hit shutout. Brett Tiagwad and Perry Russom each had two hits. The win,
coupled with Bonner's 3-2 loss to O'Hara, leaves the Hawks as sole owners of the PCL Red Division's top spot.
5/1/08...The Prep climbed into a
tie for first place in the Red Division with a 6-2 win over Father Judge. The win, coupled with LaSalle's 2-1 defeat of Bonner,
pulls the Hawks even with the Friars atop the division at 8-2. Kevin Gillen got the win, and Dan Turner's two-run double in
the sixth proved to be the go-ahead hit in the game. Brett Tiagwad and Tim Edger chipped in with two hits each.
4/30/08...Kyle Mullen twirled a
complete-game shutout to guide the Prep to an 8-0 victory at Father Judge. Aaron Haas laced three hits, and Tim Edger, Dennis
Murphy, and Perry Russom chipped in with two hits apiece.
4/29/08...Today's
varsity, JV, and freshman baseball games against Father Judge have been postponed until tomorrow.
4/23/08...Jeff Lynch's two-run homer
and Pat Malloy's two-run double powered the Prep past North, 12-11, at Piccoli Playground.. Brett Tiagwad went 3-5 for the
Hawks. Kevin Gillen got the win in relief, hurling 4 1/3, and Tim Edger earned the save in the seventh, stifling a Falcons'
rally with a game-ending strikeout with the tying run on third base.
4/21/08...Pitcher Kyle Mullen carried
the Prep to a 9-3 win, no-hitting the North Catholic Falcons. The junior righty struck out six and walked four. At the plate,
Brett Tiagwad and Perry Russom had three hits apiece.
4/17/08...The Prep avenged
Tuesday's 6-4 loss at the hands of Bonner by returning the favor and beating the Friars by a score of 5-1. Aaron Haas pitched
another complete game, this time a 97-pitch, one-run gem. Pat Malloy drove in the go-ahead run in the home fifth with a two-run
double to leftfield.
4/10/08...The
Prep defeated Neumann-Goretti, 3-1, behind Tim Edger's bat. The senior shortstop went 2-3 with
a double and a run scored to help make a winner of starting pitcher Bobby Della Polla. Aaron Haas drove in the go-ahead run
in the bottom of the third with a sac fly, and Kevin Gillen nailed down the save by twirling a scoreless seventh.
4/9/08...Tim Edger stayed red hot,
going 2-3 with a double, a triple, two runs scored, and two RBI's as the Prep completed a sweep of LaSalle today, winning
by a final of 6-1. Aaron Haas got the complete game victory, going the distance (6 K, 1 BB, 0 ER). Brett Tiagwad and Jeff

4/7/08...The
Prep downed LaSalle, 4-2, today at Ashburn Field. Tim Edger led the Hawks' offense, going 2-3 with two runs scored and a pair
of stolen bases. Kyle Mullen earned the win in his first start of the season, throwing four solid innings. Kevin Gillen picked
up the save in three scoreless innings of relief.
4/3/08...The host Hawks bounced
back today with a nail-biting 4-3 win over O'Hara. Aaron Haas picked up the win with six strong innings on the hill, and Kytle
Mullen earned the save with a scoreless seventh. Aaron Haas and Dan Turner paced the Prep with two hits each.
4/2/08...The Prep dropped its league
opener, 10-4, at O'Hara. In the loss, both Tim Edger and Brett Tiagwad laced three hits apiece, and Pat Malloy went 2-2 at
the plate.
3/27/08....The
Prep completed its first-ever undfeated spring training trip to Miami with a hard-fought
5-3 win against South Florida powerhouse Miami Christian. Aaron Haas twirled five innings of one-hit ball, striking out six
and walking none. Haas, Stephen Bruno, and Pat Malloy each had three hits, and Jeff Lynch drove in two runs.
3/26/08....The Hawks downed Archbishop
Coleman Carroll of Miami, FL by a final of 10-2. Senior first baseman Aaron Haas erupted at the plate, hitting two home runs,
including a grand slam, en route to a three-hit, seven-RBI day. Pat Malloy chipped in with a perfect 3-3 day at the plate
to make a winner of junior lefthander Bobby Della Polla (4 IP, 6 K, 2 BB).
3/25/08....The
Prep defeated Coral Shores (Tavernier, FL) by a score of 10-2. Junior righty Kevin Gillen notched his first win of the season
in impressive fashion, striking out seven and walking none in a five-inning, 58-pitch outing. He got support from junior shortstop
Stephen Bruno (2-4, two runs scored) and senior outfielder Tim Edger (two RBI's and three runs
scored).
3/20/08....The Prep baseball team
spent its second day of community service at Philabundance, located close to the Prep in North Philadelphia. Sixteen
players, along with Coach Hart, packed boxes of food for needy families in the neighborhood.
3/8/08....The
Prep baseball team spent today performing community service. Eight of our players, joined by Coach Ed Turner, travelled to
Patrick's Place VI, a Habitat For Humanity site in Norristown, PA named in honor of former Prep student Patrick Monaghan.
Photos from the day's work at Patrick's Place can be seen on the "Photo Gallery" page of this site. Fourteen
others were accompanied by Coach Rupertus to Don Guanella School in Springfield, PA, where they played games with the students
there.
