The Krakowiak Polish Dancers of Boston have been performing Polish folk dances for audiences worldwide for over 70 years.
We do this because we have so much fun doing it.
After all this time, we've decided that we're being selfish. We think
we should share the fun with you. We know that not everyone wants to get up on stage and perform for an audience, but we all
dance at parties, weddings and socials. The dances of our heritage were all originally done at that sort of event, not for
the stage. We can do them that way too - and if we Poles don't, who will?
In many countries around Europe people are
rediscovering their native dances. In the UK, Hungary, and the Scandinavian countries there are active folk dance revival
movements. Our folk culture is more interesting than most of these. We can't let it languish and die, preserved only on stage,
like a fly in amber!
We are now hosting a series of Polish folk dance parties. We will teach folk dances from different
parts of Poland and also play polkas, waltzes and other things you may know. Requests will be welcome from those who know
some Polish dances already.
