Things
are finally coming together for finishing the lower level. We had a snag (it seems we have run into more than a few snags
since we started this project: water mitigation, wet wood and carpenter ant infestation, footings not attached to main support
beam, and insects wanting to eat the lodge. Now we understand what it’s like
to live in a gingerbread house!). Once we put in the up pump for the waste water we will be in business.
Question:
how many adults does it take to put together pyramid bunk beds? Answer: not enough! We have one put together and the
second goes up today...hopefully.
Once
the beds are up we can put the German table together, move in furniture and put the lower level together. Hopefully I can
have pictures posted by next week. Yeah!!!!
I
am writing this blog on the back deck and it is a beautiful day. So many birds and noises. The woodpeckers are magnificent. They have such an interesting sound. The hawks LOVED the wind from hurricane Hanna
yesterday. They played above us all day.
We
have a house full this weekend and the kids are lovin’ sleeping on mattresses on the floor. John, Hannah, and Brittany tested
the PS3 and it seems that those under 40 can get it to work.
Everyone
is still asleep-too much hot tubbin’ and college football yesterday I guess, so I think I will go down to Home Depot to get
dowels for the bunk beds. I left them in Alexandria. It’s a nice drive so it
doesn’t seem like a chore.
We
are excited that the lodge is renting so well. October is filling up fast, New Years is filled, and we have calls for Thanksgiving
but no reservations yet. I will be decorating for the holidays and am excited about that.
